The third generation Explorer "Ref. 1016" manufactured from around 1960 to around 1989 The Vintage Explorer has undergone various specification changes over its long production period.
The item we have in stock this time was manufactured around 1975 and is a model equipped with a "hack function" that stops the second hand when the crown is pulled out.
The dial is a rare type called
a "Type 3 dial" or "tall crown" characterized by a vertical crown mark!
Even among the Ref.1016/matte dials, this is one that is quite hard to find!
Speaking of this tall crown dial, it is the model (left) that is also used by Commit appraiser Dr. Ito!
Dr. Ito called this MK3 dial, which has a slightly misaligned space between the chronometer notation, "SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER" on the top line and "OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" on the bottom line, a semi-center split!
This is certainly a unique feature that makes you feel attached to this watch, something that other dials do not have!
As expected from a doctor! I can see the sense in his perspective!
It seems that MK3 dials tend to have strong tritium burns, but the one we are introducing this time is also well-burned and has an outstanding appearance!
The hands appear to have been replaced later, but the luminous material is tritium.
The condition of the dial is very beautiful.
The case and bracelet have some scratches appropriate for their age, but there are no noticeable scratches and the condition is good.
The middle case has a slightly polished feel, but since it is a vintage model, the atmosphere is surprisingly not compromised.
The single bracelet with clasp code "VE"
It's in good condition with only slight creasing!
Wrist shot!! Semi-center split tall crown dial!!
It has a lovely face that makes you feel attached to it!
The vintage Explorer "Ref.1016/MK3" has a beautiful dial and a beautiful tritium finish. It's a highly recommended watch with a great atmosphere!
This is a rare dial that is hard to come by even in our store, so if you are looking for Ref. 1016, be sure to consider this one!
