In 1845, François Czapek, a genius watchmaker of Czech origin and Polish origin, founded Czapek & Cie. in Geneva on his own after his contract with Patek Czapek expired. He gained fame as the official watchmaker of Napoleon III, producing innovative pocket watches with enamel dials and dual time features. In 1869, he opened a boutique in Paris and was highly praised by the royal court, but his activities ceased in the early 20th century. However, the brand was revived in 2015, and the Quai de Berg, equipped with the hand-wound Cal. SXH1, once again drew attention. Currently produced in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the limited edition models are so popular that they sell out immediately.
