The Annual Calendar Chronograph "Ref. 5960/01G-001" was announced as a new model for 2017, with an 18KWG (white gold) case, blue dial and calfskin strap. At the same time, a stainless steel case and bracelet with a black dial was also announced.
In terms of appearance, many people may have thought of the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524G-001, which was released in 2015 and resembles the SS model Ref. 5960/1A-010 released at the same time. Some people may wonder if a leather strap model is appropriate for Japan's hot and humid summers, but the blue base with white minute scale on the outer periphery and the red chronograph hand create a perfect summery image.
Previous "Ref. 5960" series models have used alligator straps, but this model uses a calf strap. This is the same as the "Ref. 5212A-001" that was released in 2019 and was the first Patek Philippe to feature a weekly calendar mechanism in a stainless steel case "Calatrava." The original strap is beautiful, but it's also fun to create your own strap from a store like Jean Rousseau, which specializes in leather straps and leather accessories for watches. It's a tough season for businessmen who usually wear suits to work, but when you see this model on your wrist, you'll definitely feel like a capable man and your spirits will be lifted!
By the way, when you hear the word "calfskin belt," many people have a casual impression of it, but Patek Philippe is truly impressive. It is made with a very elegant touch.
At first glance, it seems like the materials, dial design, and hand specifications haven't changed much from the previous "Ref.5960" series. But take a look at the design of the top of the pusher used to start/reset the chronograph on the side of the case. The design is reminiscent of an antique model...isn't it cute? (laughs)
The movement that can be seen from the skeleton back is the "Cal. CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H" with an annual calendar and a chronograph with a flyback function. I've said this many times before, but the movement of a Patek Philippe is so beautiful that you never get bored of looking at it.
The amazing thing about this movement is that you can keep the chronograph hand moving and use it as a second hand. This is something that Patek Philippe has made public, and I'm not just saying this on my own, so don't worry. (laughs)
I don't think people usually use chronographs very often, but I think that being able to use it in this way is a positive thing from the perspective of the wearer of the watch.
The condition is unused. This model was discontinued in 2020, but if you look closely at the date on the warranty, it says 2021. The manufacturer's warranty period is still valid, and the longer the manufacturer's warranty period remains for models equipped with such complex mechanisms, the more reassuring it is to wear, which is why we recommend it.
