The Milgauss was developed as an antimagnetic watch for doctors and scientists who are exposed to strong magnetic fields. "Mille" is French for "1000" and "gauss" is a unit of magnetic flux density, and it is the only antimagnetic watch from Rolex that can withstand "1000 gauss". It is characterized by its special equipment such as an inner shield that blocks magnetism and a lightning bolt needle. Although production was discontinued around 1988, it was revived in 2007, but production will be discontinued again in 2023.
