The second generation Submariner Date/Ref. 16800, produced from around 1980 to around 1988.
While inheriting the basic design from the original Submariner Date/Ref. 1680, the crystal has been changed from plastic to sapphire glass, and the model has an anti-reverse bezel and a quick-change date function, making it even more practical.
The model we are introducing this time is the early model "borderless" model.
The Ref. 16800 is divided into early and late models, with either a "borderless" version having no border on the index or a "bordered" version having a metal border.
It seems that the transition to the later-style bordered dial began around 1984.
The early model has a matte dial, giving it a more vintage feel!
This is all tritium with luminous points and
The hands and indexes are exquisitely tanned, giving this watch an outstanding vintage aura.
The needles are a little worn, but this deterioration is also a nice feature!
There are small scratches due to use, but we do not perform any exterior finishing on the item.
There is some creasing in the bracelet.
The glass has thin scratches on the surface and small scratches around the edges, but no major scratches that would detract from the appearance.
Wrist shot!! The tritium burn looks great!!
This is an old Submariner "Ref. 16800" with sapphire glass, a matte rimless dial that also looks charcoal gray, and tritium that goes perfectly together, creating an outstanding look!
The watch has been overhauled at our affiliated workshop, so you can be assured of its interior as well!
If you are looking for a rimless Submariner, please consider this one.
