Good evening everyone!
Richard Mille shakes up the watch world every time it releases a new model.
Its ultimate design and specifications have attracted everyone's attention and praise.
And now, a shocking new model has been released.
The name is
" RM 27-05 Flying Tourbillon Rafael Nadal".
The brand is known for its collaboration model with professional tennis player Rafael Nadal, and this timepiece weighs just 11.5g and is shock resistant to 14,000G , making it an incredible piece. This time, we will take a closer look at this ultimate collaboration model, which has set two records as a manual tourbillon watch.
overview
Features
1. The secret behind its weight of just 11.5g
The most distinctive feature of this model is its incredible lightness, weighing only 11.5g . Before the partnership with Richard Mille began, Rafael Nadal refused to wear a watch during matches. Richard persuaded him many times, and the partnership began with the goal of "jointly developing the lightest tourbillon in the world."
The first model, the Ref. RM027 , was born in this way and boasted a lightness of less than 20g , which was unthinkable for a watch until then. Furthermore, the Ref. RM27-01 weighed 18.83g , and the Ref. RM27-03 was shock resistant to 10,000G , and the series has continued to evolve.
And now, the watch is an astonishingly light 11.5g . The secret lies in the newly developed material, Carbon TPT® B.4 . This material is 4 % denser, the fibers 15 % harder, and the resin 30 % more durable than standard Carbon TPT® . This allows the case parts to be made thinner, achieving overwhelming lightness while maintaining durability.
②The slim case is thanks to that model
Not only is this model lightweight, but the case is also incredibly thin at just 7.2mm .
The secret lies in the RM UP-01 Ferrari, a collaboration model with Ferrari that has attracted attention for its thinness of just 1.75mm.
The method used in this model is also utilized in this model. It does not use screws to secure the movement to the case, but instead places all the mechanisms inside the monocoque base plate and middle case, fixing the movement. The inner bezel and bezel are placed on top of the base plate and middle case, and the entire assembly holds down the movement, making it a firmly fixed design.
3) Incredible impact resistance
The Rafael Nadal model from Richard Mille is characterized by its light weight and shock resistance. In the watch industry, 5000G is considered the standard shock resistance, but this model has achieved a shock resistance of 14,000G .
To achieve this shock resistance, the movement is made of titanium and Carbon TPT® , which gives it excellent rigidity while still being extremely thin and lightweight with a total weight of 3.79g .
Furthermore, before being worn by Rafael Nadal, the watch underwent multiple validation tests, including various shocks of 5,000 g and then a 3D simulation of the damage using tomography of the watch, resulting in an incredible shock resistance.
④ Flying tourbillon with variable inertia balance
The flying tourbillon does away with the traditional upper bridge in favour of a unique single-sided mounting, which allows a clear view of the intricate mechanism and reduces the overall weight.
The free-sprung balance wheel maintains high accuracy even when subjected to shocks, assembly and disassembly of the movement, or deterioration over time. In addition, the normal regulator is not used, and four small adjustable screws are attached directly to the balance wheel, allowing for more precise adjustment.
