We will be publishing the aggregated results every month, so please be sure to check them out. This will not only showcase our store's performance but also deepen your understanding of the watch market!
So, what kind of movements are we seeing in the luxury watch industry?
Let's take a look at the latest "Buyback Rate" (July 2026) and unravel the trends.
Introduction

It is generally said that "industrial products" depreciate in value the moment they are purchased. However, with the recent trends in SDGs and the development of C2C businesses, the secondary distribution market (resale market) has been gaining increasing attention year by year.
Luxury watches are no exception, and the market continues to expand, with a rapid increase in the number of second-hand watch buyers in Japan. So, what is the actual resale rate? What are the key points when buying or selling? To avoid any losses (and to save as much as possible), please read to the end of this discussion about the "Buyback Rate = Resale Rate" which will be revealed later!
The "Buyback Rate = Resale Rate" at General Watch Stores

As many of you may know, the value derived from the price difference when a previously purchased watch is resold is called the "Buyback Rate = Resale Rate." At typical buying centers, this figure is said to be approximately 70%.
In essence, a watch purchased for 1 million yen can be bought back for approximately 700,000 yen.
= This means a "Buyback Rate = Resale Rate" of 70%.
What do you think of this figure of approximately 70% (meaning a 1 million yen watch becomes about 700,000 yen)?
"They buy it back for that much?"
"It's surprisingly high."
"It's much higher than clothes!"
Most people probably feel that the return rate is good and they can sell it for a high price, don't they?

However, when it comes to luxury watches, that way of thinking is a bit outdated. In fact, there is a great potential to get an even higher price!
Commit Ginza's "Buyback Rate = Resale Rate"

Unbelievable!!
We have achieved an astonishing 108.7% (June 2026: 109.3%)!
!
The average buyback guarantee at a general watch store is approximately 70%. The difference is a staggering...
38.7% = 387,000 yen!!
Most people would probably think, "That's a lie, isn't it? Isn't there some trick?"
... Yes, I have stated the facts without any lies, but there is a trick to it. And this is a very important point. Please read and understand the following content carefully.

How to Maximize the Buyback Rate (= Selling Price)?

The data above is just a partial representation of our store's performance, but it clearly shows that the majority of sales within one year tend to have a "buyback rate below 100%," while those held for approximately "one and a half years or more" gradually tend to have a "buyback rate exceeding 100%."
In other words, the "longer you hold it," the higher the "resale rate" tends to be. The result is shown below.

As you can see, there are a great many transactions made in less than a year and a half. While there are various reasons for each customer, the current situation is that many people are losing money by engaging in short-term trading.

When comparing items held for a year and a half or more with those sold in less than a year and a half, a discrepancy of 17.6% is observed. Knowing such a difference exists, wouldn't you consider holding onto your item for the long term?
Furthermore, from another perspective, a resale rate of 108.7% means that you essentially wore a luxury watch for free, and on top of that, you received an additional 87,000 yen back.

This result is certainly influenced by external factors such as increased demand for luxury watches and soaring market prices due to global inflation. However, we are proud to say that it is also the result of our store's sincere commitment to prioritizing our customers.
Finally, we will specifically explain the reasons why our store achieves overwhelmingly high resale rates.
Reasons Why Commit Ginza Boasts an Overwhelming Resale Rate

In short, by thoroughly implementing "customer first" – buying at the highest prices in Japan and selling at the lowest – and accurately assessing "fair market value" – the current price appropriate for each product – we have succeeded in cultivating a large base of "loyal customers."
Summary
In the first place, there are hardly any industrial products with a resale rate exceeding 100%. However, luxury watches can achieve a resale rate of over 100% if considered from a long-term perspective, rather than a short-term one.
However, what we want you to value even more is "enjoying wearing" your watch. Beyond its asset value, a luxury watch also offers positive aspects such as enhancing your prestige and providing a sense of exhilaration. Why not enjoy wearing a luxury watch that can also become your asset, and find one at our store?
We will continue to publish similar data every month, striving to ensure your satisfaction and peace of mind when buying and selling luxury watches.
