Val Kilmer rose to stardom when he played "Iceman," a pilot trainee who becomes a rival to the young Maverick ( Tom Cruise ) in " Top Gun " (1986).
Even in the sequel, Top Gun: Maverick (2022), which came 36 years later, he played a major role as Admiral "Iceman," an old friend and comrade-in-arms who gives advice to Maverick, who is struggling to train young pilots, despite being battling a terminal illness.
In 2014, Val Kilmer lost his voice due to laryngeal cancer, but Tom Cruise still declared, "I won't make a sequel to Top Gun without Val." This time, we'll take a closer look at the watch worn by the indomitable "Iceman" Val Kilmer, who responded to that spirit.

The 1986 teen movie "Top Gun" was a huge hit, depicting the growth of the unconventional young pilot Maverick through the struggles and love he experiences with his teammates. In this film, Val Kilmer, who played Maverick's rival Iceman , wears a Rolex GMT-Master (presumably Ref. 1675 or Ref. 16750) .
The GMT Master is a watch developed by Rolex for international pilots of Pan American World Airways, and is also known as the model worn by Chuck Yeager , the U.S. Air Force pilot who was the first person in the world to break the sound barrier. It is a watch that is perfectly suited to the wrist of an elite fighter pilot.

Nick ( Robert De Niro ), the leader of a gang of robbers, and his comrades attack a cash transport vehicle and succeed in stealing a large amount of securities. However, Detective Vincent ( Al Pacino ) of the Los Angeles Police Department identifies the members of the gang with only a few clues and approaches Nick and his gang with a tenacious investigation. Meanwhile, Nick, who had thought about retiring from the robbery business after meeting the woman he loves, decides to make the next bank robbery his last job.
Nick plans the robbery down to the second in an attempt to commit the perfect crime. The bank robbery seems to be a success, but someone gives a tip and the LAPD, led by Detective Vincent, rushes to the scene, escalating into a fierce shootout in broad daylight in the city.

" Heat " (1995) depicts the fiery clash between Nick, a brilliant professional criminal played by Robert De Niro, and Vincent, a tenacious investigator played by Al Pacino. Val Kilmer, who plays Chris, the second in the gang of robbers, wears a digital watch with an LCD display on his wrist (unfortunately, there is no clear close-up shot of the watch, so the following is my personal speculation).
Nick completes all his crimes within five minutes. He wears a Timex Stealth digital watch, which he likely trusts to succeed in his plans, down to the second. If the leader of the organization trusts it, there is no reason for his teammates not to wear it too. It is not impossible that the team would wear watches with the same functions to increase the success rate of their crimes. I speculate that the watch Val Kilmer wears in this film is the same Timex Stealth as the one worn by Robert De Niro.

" The Saint " (1997) is a remake of the 1960s TV drama "The Saint " starring Roger Moore . Following the huge success of " Mission: Impossible " (1996) released the previous year, this film incorporates the flavor of a spy movie into a traditional heist movie. Val Kilmer, who plays the thief "The Saint", wears a Bvlgari Diagono Sports Chronograph (Ref. CH35S) .
The watch worn by the handsome phantom thief, who steals stylishly, is also very elegant. Incidentally, at the time of the release, Bvlgari released a " Saint Limited Edition " of this watch, limited to 100 pieces worldwide.
summary
What did you think.
Val Kilmer was an action star who played Batman in the 1990s. After a serious illness, he became like an old man , but even though he can no longer speak, his performance with his eyes, reminiscent of his role as Jim Morrison in " The Doors " (1991), brought a profound drama to the film " Top Gun: Maverick ."

Although it may be difficult for him to do wild action scenes like those he showed in " Heat " (1995) and " Batman Forever " (1995), he should still be able to play human roles in human dramas and suspense movies. I would love to see Val Kilmer wearing a tasteful vintage or dress watch on the big screen!
see you!
