The "Minute Repeater Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Retrograde" "Ref. 5016R-010" is an extraordinary model that is equipped with all of the typical complicated mechanisms of luxury watches: minute repeater, tourbillon, perpetual calendar, and retrograde.
Patek Philippe models with perpetual calendars are so expensive that as of December 2024, the official selling price in Japan will never fall below 15 million yen, but the model we are introducing this time is equipped with four extremely expensive complex mechanisms.
The "Ref. 5016" is an extremely rare model, of which we have only had three in stock at our store, and these days it is almost always seen only at overseas auctions.
The combination of 18KRG (rose gold) case and silver opaline dial is a simple design that is often seen in dress watches, but it exudes warmth and depth, and exudes a mature and sexy look. When you consider that a complex mechanism is generously packed into this mere 37mm case diameter, you can't help but feel the overwhelming technical prowess of Patek Philippe.
The dial features applied Breguet numerals and hands, a retrograde date display from 8 to 4 o'clock, and a blued hand indicates the date. There are also small windows at 12, 3, and 9 o'clock that display leap years, months, and days of the week, respectively.
As you may know, Patek Philippe tourbillon models cannot be viewed from the front, and this model is no different; it only has the word "TOURBILLON" written underneath the moon phase display at 6 o'clock. This is apparently the result of considering the functionality and practicality of placing the tourbillon on the back, so if you want to view it, you'll have to make do with viewing it from the back. (laughs)
The movement "Cal.R TO 27 PS QR AIG.1" boasts impressive functionality, and when you activate the minute petal, you can hear the hammers and the gongs. The movement of this movement, including the fine finishing of each part, is perhaps the best way to feel Patek Philippe's commitment to craftsmanship.
At this point, some of you may not know much about minute repeaters, so I'll provide a brief explanation.
By pushing up the lever at the 9 o'clock position, the minute repeater is activated and chimes the time with three different gongs.
▶1st gong = 1 hour unit ⇒ If the time on the clock is 10 o'clock, 10 gongs will sound.
▶ Second gong = every 15 minutes ⇒ If the time on the clock is 38 minutes, two gongs will sound.
▶3rd gong = 1 minute unit ⇒ If the time on the clock is 38 minutes, 8 gongs will sound.
In other words, if you want to hear the full sound, set the clock to 12:59 and you will hear 12 chimes, then 3 chimes, and finally 14 chimes. Also, I've heard that the sound resonates better with a closed back than with a skeleton back, so I'd definitely recommend that anyone who owns one try it out.
The warranty date is June 2009. The luxurious box with a lock befitting this super model also includes an additional closed case back and a drawer for setting the pins for adjusting the calendar. All accessories are included, the watch is in good condition, and it is very suitable as a collection piece.
The selling price is 79,750,000 yen (tax included)
Compared to the skyrocketing market price at one time, the current selling price is a great bargain. Also, I don't think it will be easy to find one in this condition in the future, so I would especially recommend this to anyone looking for one.
