Good evening everyone.

Did you know that Commit Ginza (hereafter referred to as our store) currently has a very large inventory of Patek Philippe Grand Complications? Today, we would like to introduce the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5270, which is one of the most popular Grand Complications and our specialty.

The Ref. 5270, the fourth generation since the original masterpiece Ref. 1518, is a very interesting model with a wide variety of combinations of materials and dials, so be sure to read to the end to find out what specifications it has!

The third generation of the Ref. 5270, the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5270G-019, was released in 2015 at the same time as the Ref. 5270G-018 (silver dial).

Until now, the Ref. 5270 has only been available in 18KWG (white gold), but for the first time, 18KRG (rose gold) will be added to the lineup.
*The third generation "Ref. 5270G" is rarely available on the market, and "Ref. 5270G-018" (18KWG case x silver dial) is a model that has never been sold in our store until now.

The scale on the outer edge of the dial now has a layout that combines the first and second generations, with an overall design that is closer to the center, and the sub-dial hands (second hand, 30-minute counter hand, calendar display hand) have been changed from the traditional leaf shape to a sleek, thin rod-like design, resulting in a very refined look. Additionally, the calendar scale at 6 o'clock, which was controversial in the second generation, has been changed to a cut-off design rather than a bulge, resulting in a truly perfect finish with a high level of perfection in terms of balance, visibility, and aesthetics.

Let us now briefly introduce the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph "Ref. 5270" series.

The first model, Ref. 5270G-001, was released in 2011 as the successor to the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Ref. 5970 and is equipped with a fully in-house manufactured movement.

This watch, with its opaline silver dial, oxidized black hour and minute hands, indexes, and railway track around the outer edge of the dial, has a neat appearance and was in production for approximately three years.

The second generation, "Ref. 5270G-013 (silver dial)" and "Ref. 5270G-014 (blue dial)," were released in 2014.

The hour and minute hands, subdial hands, and indices were changed to a silver color, and the design of the subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock was also changed. The outer edge of the dial was also changed to a tachymeter, and the unique layout with a downward bulge at 6 o'clock made this model very popular. Unfortunately, it was a short-lived model that only lasted about a year, and is now extremely rare.
*In the past, our store has only sold the blue dial shown in the image above.

Let's return to the "Ref. 5270G-019." When many people first saw the "Ref. 5270" series, they may have found the unique stepped lugs to be a bit of an "unusual design." However, today, these stepped lugs are highly regarded as the perfect case design that symbolizes the Ref. 5270.

Even more noteworthy is the elegant, slightly curved bezel shape. This design was also used in the historic masterpiece "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" model "Ref. 2499," which can now only be seen at overseas auctions, and is an important design element that gives a sense of its lineage.

The combination of an 18K white gold case and blue dial is particularly popular among models with leather straps. While it has a modern feel, the distinctive case design creates an exquisite balance that gives it a somewhat classical appearance.

The movement, which can be seen through the sapphire crystal skeleton case back, is the completely in-house manufactured "Cal. CH 29-535 PS Q".

It's impressive that despite being equipped with a perpetual calendar mechanism, it's only about 7mm thick. This change also enlarged the calendar display window below the 12 o'clock position on the dial, improving visibility. Furthermore, the leap year indicator is now at 5 o'clock and the day/night indicator at 8 o'clock, resulting in a more organized and easy-to-understand dial design.

Despite being equipped with both a chronograph and a perpetual calendar, the case is only 12.4mm thick, making it comfortable to wear. It also boasts a power reserve of up to 65 hours when the chronograph is not in operation, making it highly practical.

The warranty is dated March 2017. All accessories are included, and the watch has been polished in the past. It is in excellent condition. There are some minor scratches and scuffs associated with use, but the overall condition is good.

The selling price is 21,560,000 yen (tax included)

summary

What did you think?

It is extremely rare on the market and the selling price is attractive, so we highly recommend it to anyone looking for one.

Also arriving at almost the same time, the "Ref. 5270P-001" with its attractive golden opaline dial was ordered immediately after it was posted. Its beauty and rarity once again confirm that it is a highly sought-after model.

Considering that the current market prices of the "Ref. 3970" and "Ref. 5970" equipped with the base movement made by Lemania are soaring, I think it would be a very wise choice to get your hands on the "Ref. 5270" now, which still offers a relatively good deal.

We will continue to introduce as many attractive and recommended models as possible, so please look forward to the next issue!

See you next time!
