Good evening everyone.
Last week, a once-in-a-decade cold wave hit, and it was extremely cold. In contrast, the good news is that it has been decided that the classification of the new coronavirus under the Infectious Diseases Act will be lowered to "Class 5," the same as seasonal influenza. Of course, we must not become complacent, but this decision will not only allow people from overseas to travel to Japan, but also allow us to travel abroad more easily, and I think that things will gradually return to the situation before the coronavirus pandemic. In this article, I would like to introduce the " World Time " watch " Ref. 5230P-001 ," which is perfect for such occasions. Please enjoy until the end.
"Ref.5230P-001"
『World Time』 PT
"Ref. 5230P-001" features a PT (platinum) case, announced as a new model in 2022
Previous modern versions of the World Time series, such as the Ref. 5110P and Ref. 5130P, which were made with a PT (platinum) case, had only the center of the dial colored blue, differentiating them from other materials. However, the successor model, the Ref. 5230P, has the entire dial finished in a beautiful blue, with only the daytime portion of the 24-hour display ring being silver.
Here I would like to briefly review the modern version of "World Time."
※Ref.5110R-001
The "Ref. 5110" was announced in 2000, the millennium year, as a modern version of the "World Time" watch. It has a case diameter of 37mm and is available in YG (yellow gold), RG (rose gold), WG (white gold), and PT (platinum).

Next came the "Ref. 5130" which was released in 2006 as the successor to the "Ref. 5110".
The case diameter has been increased from 37mm to 39.5mm, the design of the center of the dial has been changed from a guilloche finish to a sunbeam finish, and the design of the hands (hour hands) has been changed to apple hands.
※Ref.5230G-001
Subsequently, in 2016, the "Ref. 5230" was announced as the successor model to the "Ref. 5130".
Although it is no longer in production, it was originally available in 18KRG (rose gold) case "Ref. 5230R" and 18KWG (white gold) case "Ref. 5230G". The center of the dial is decorated with an elaborate gray wavy hand-finished guilloche pattern, the case diameter has been slightly reduced from 39.5mm to 38.5mm, and the hands have been changed to a design that combines the first and second generations.
Returning to the topic, the center of the dial of the non-platinum "Ref.5230" was finished with a wavy guilloche pattern, whereas the "Ref.5230P" has been transformed into a new guilloche decoration [circular pattern]. This design is somewhat reminiscent of the first "World Time" "Ref.5110".
Also, the biggest difference from previous models is the lack of a crown guard, which gives it a cleaner impression and creates a classic atmosphere.
The calm blue calfskin strap that comes with this model has white hand stitching that gives it an elegant impression. Even though it is made of calfskin, it doesn't look too casual, which is typical of Patek Philippe.
The movement with the "World Time" mechanism that can be seen from the skeleton back is the "Cal.240 HU" that has been used since the first generation. Since it is based on the ultra-thin automatic movement "Cal.240", the case thickness is kept to 10.23mm. The Calatrava cross engraved on the 22K micro rotor is also beautiful and looks like a work of art.
The warranty date is May 2022, and it is in excellent condition with almost no signs of wear or scratches. All accessories are included and the condition is good. It also comes with an original leather pouch that you will receive when you return it to the manufacturer for repairs.
The selling price is 8,998,000 yen (tax included)

Actually, when this watch arrived at the end of last year, I had wanted to feature it in Patek Theory right away, but the timing was off and I was finally able to introduce it to you. The size, fit, functionality, etc. make this a highly recommended watch. It is a new model for 2022, and is hardly available on the market, and the selling price is lower than the domestic list price. If you have been looking for this watch, or if you are looking for a premium dress watch, please contact Abe.
summary
What did you think.
As I mentioned at the beginning, when we can travel abroad again without hesitation, I was constantly struck by the desire to wear such a wonderful "World Time" watch while writing this column. (laughs)
But that's just a pipe dream, and I hope that customers who really want it will be able to get their hands on it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us, even if they are minor.
So stay tuned for more useful Patek Philippe information next week!
see you!
