Rolex Red Sea-Dweller MK2 Tropical
Ref.1665 Serial.2 series (manufactured around 1970)
Cal.1570
" Not For Sale"
The first Sea-Dweller "Ref.1665"
This model was created in 1967 in partnership with the underwater research company COMEX.
This model is known as the Red Seed , as it has the words "SEA-DWELLER" and "SUBMARINER 2000" printed in red, which are found on some early models.
This is also known as "DRSD" (Double Red Seed Error) .
The current red Sea-Dweller model, Ref. 126600, released in 2017 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Sea-Dweller, is a revival model of the first Sea-Dweller.
This red Sea-Dweller has what is called an MK2 dial , and compared to other MK series, it features a crown mark with a smaller empty space in the circle below the crown mark.
The dial is a brown-tinted tropical dial , said to be present on the MK2 dial.
What do you think?
This brown tropical color has a beautiful tan gradation from top to bottom.
The exquisitely designed tropical dial exudes an even more intense aura in person than it does in photographs.
This is a comparison shot with DRSD/MK3 .
When you compare them like this, can you see the beautiful brown change?
The slightly faded "Fat Font bezel" also looks good.
The back cover is engraved with the Straight logo and the serial number on the inside.
It currently comes with a Jubilee bracelet, but the original winding bracelet is also included.
The red Sea-Dweller "MK2 Tropical", which exudes an outstanding vintage aura, is currently on display in our store!
Please be sure to check it out when you visit!
This model is also featured on Commit's new website, "COMMIT VINTAGE WATCH DICTIONARY," which specializes in vintage Rolex watches.
Please take a look.
