What we are introducing this time is a rare Explorer/Ref. 5500 that is said to have been sold to the UK over a certain period of time.
Since there are many remanufactured items and the original model is hard to come by, this is a rare model that is becoming more and more rare every year.
This model is an Air King/Ref. 5500 with an Explorer dial, so it has a small size of 34mm.
This is a comparison photo with the original Ref. 1016/Explorer (right).
When you compare it like this, the difference of 2mm is significant.
Recommended for those who feel that 1016 is a little too big!
The dial is a mirror dial. The gold lettering is very cool.
The evaluation of mirror dials varies greatly depending on their condition, but this particular one comes highly recommended as it still retains a nice luster.
Although there are some small scratches and deterioration on the dial, it is in very good condition.
There is no noticeable deterioration in the index luminous material!
The hand luminescence was modified in later years, but the atmosphere has not been affected in any way.
Boys Explorer comes with a wide variety of dials.
This particular watch has two T<25 notations next to the SWISS notation, making it a rare dial unique to this era.
Since it is equipped with a non-chronograph movement, the word "SUPER PRECISION" is written at the 6 o'clock position on the dial, which means it is accurate!
The condition is good with some scratches from use appropriate for its age, but there are no major scratches and it is in good condition.
The middle case is in good condition with no excessive finishing.
The rivet bracelet has some creasing appropriate for its age, but since it is a vintage model, I don't think it will bother you too much.
