The Royal Oak is a very popular model right now, and it is hard to get your hands on one. And among them, there are two that are even rarer...

Without further ado, please enjoy until the end.

What is "Royal Oak"?

First, let me give you a brief introduction to the Royal Oak.
*I wrote about this last time, so if you've already read it, feel free to skip this part.

Audemars Piguet is one of the top three watch brands in the world. Its flagship model is the Royal Oak. It was released in 1972 and created a new genre of luxury sports watches, which has had a huge impact to this day. It is also famous for being the first in the world to use stainless steel.

※"Ref.5420"

The original Royal Oak, Ref. 5402, is nicknamed "Jumbo" because of its 39mm case diameter, which was large for the time. It is also equipped with Jaeger-LeCoultre's ultra-thin movement, Cal. 2121, which makes it only 8mm thick. This ultra-thin movement was also used in the Royal Oak Extra-Thin Ref. 15202ST.OO.1240ST.01, a reissue model of the Ref. 5402 that was released to mark the 40th anniversary of the birth of the Royal Oak.

In terms of design, the master Gerald Genta was responsible, and all of his models (such as the Nautilus) designed by him, who was called the "Picasso of the watch world," are currently very popular.

[Audemars Piguet] Two rare Royal Oak models

『Royal Oak』
"Tourbillon" Extra-thin 18KPG
"Ref. 26510OR.OO.1220OR.01"

The Royal Oak Extra-Thin is equipped with the tourbillon, one of the world's three most complicated mechanisms.

Currently, this model is very rare and hardly available in the second-hand market. Commit Ginza (hereinafter referred to as our store) has never handled this model in the past, so this is the first time we have it in stock. It is currently listed on the official website, but as mentioned at the beginning, there are rumors that it may be discontinued due to the new "Flying Tourbillon" that was introduced in the announcement of the new model to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak.

If it goes out of production, it will become even harder to get, and the price will inevitably rise. How far will it go...?

The defining feature of this model is the presence of the "Tourbillon," one of the world's three major mechanisms, which can be seen from the front of the dial. It is no exaggeration to say that the combination with the deep blue "Petit Tapisserie" dial is the ultimate , and is a must-have for watch lovers.

What's more, it is finished in an elegant 18KPG (pink gold) finish, which gives it an incredible presence and aura.

The hand-wound movement "Cal. 2924" visible through the back cover is also impressive. The case is only 8.85mm thick. Hats off to Audemars Piguet's technical ability to realize such a thin case despite the "tourbillon".

As for the condition, although there are some scratches from use, it is in good condition with sharp edges reminiscent of a non-polished finish. After all, a sharp bezel and case are important for the Royal Oak.

It comes with all the accessories and is a high-year model with a card gallery.

The selling price is 43,890,000 yen (tax included)

The Royal Oak Tourbillon will no doubt be hard to come by in the future. Needless to say, the 18KPG (pink gold) version is extremely rare. This is truly a gem!

『Royal Oak』
"Jumbo" Jubilee SS
"Ref. 14802ST"

The Royal Oak "Jumbo" Jubilee was released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Royal Oak.

This limited edition model was made in a total of 1000 pieces in all materials including SS (stainless steel) and YG (yellow gold). Only 700 pieces of SS (stainless steel) were produced, and most of them are said to have had cobalt blue dials, so you can see how rare this salmon pink dial is. It has been sold at high prices at auctions around the world, and is a rare piece that is rarely seen in Japan.

The silhouette, with a case diameter of 39 mm and a thickness of approximately 8 mm, is still very popular today, and the "Ref. 15202ST" is said to have inherited the exterior of this model.

The "Cal. 2121" seen through the case back is an ultra-thin movement made by Jaeger-LeCoultre that has been in use since 1972. It is truly a masterpiece.

As for the condition, there are some small scratches from use, but it looks solid for a watch of this age. Even these small scratches give it a sense of history, and I think it's incredibly cool. Of course, beautiful watches are great, but men have a weakness for good old watches with character. (laughs)

There are no accessories included, but just being able to see this particular item in person is a great thing...

The selling price is 34,980,000 yen (tax included)

This is a rare piece that you may never see again in your lifetime. If you are interested, please contact us and we look forward to seeing you in our store!
