Good evening everyone!
Did you know that on Thursday, October 17, 2024, Patek Philippe suddenly announced a new model? It's called "Cubitus." It's a new design for the brand, and it's become a hot topic in the watch industry.
The last time Patek Philippe released a new collection was in 1999 with the "Twenty~4" series, which was their first in about 25 years. We would like to provide a detailed explanation of this new model, so please enjoy reading until the end.

Features
① Unique square case
The biggest feature of this collection is the square case, as you can imagine from the name. This distinctive design , named "Cubitus", embodies the casual elegance that Patek Philippe has been pursuing.
The bold form, which combines a square and an octagon, is accented by the softly rounded bezel, which exudes elegance. The contrast between the vertical satin finish on the bezel surface and the top of the case, and the polished finish on the sides of the bezel and the sides of the case body, establishes this unique style.
Another point not to be missed is the case diameter of 45mm. Even in today's world where larger sizes are the norm, this size is impressive and feels a size larger than the rest. However, the case is very thin at 8.3mm thick, so it should fit comfortably on the wrist. I'd like to try the actual watch on soon.
②Design reminiscent of the masterpiece "Nautilus"
Although this is a new collection, some people may feel that it looks familiar. That's because Philippe Stern explains that the watches are cousins of the Nautilus and Aquanaut, which are Patek Philippe's flagship models, and that the model was designed based on the Nautilus design.
When I first saw it, I had a strong impression that it was a "Nautilus!" However, its beauty is overwhelming, and it has an atmosphere of luxury and elegance that is appropriate for a high-class brand. In addition, the horizontal embossed pattern on the dial is also applied to the rotor of the movement.
3. New movement "Cal.240 PS CI J LU" adopted
The three-hand models "Ref.5821/1AR-001" and "Ref.5821/1A-001" are equipped with the famous "Cal.26-330 SC" movement, which has a hacking function and eliminates the date prohibition time period, while the "Ref.5822P-001" is the only one that is equipped with the "Cal.240 PS CI J LU".

It has a large instantaneous date display at the 12 o'clock position, a moon phase and day of the week display at the 6 to 8 o'clock position, and a second hand at the 4 to 5 o'clock position. It has a similar layout to the Nautilus "Ref. 5712", but there is no power reserve display at the 10 to 11 o'clock position.
Considering that six technical patent applications have been filed for the new movement, "Cal. 240 PS CI J LU," and that it has been adopted in the new collection, it seems that Patek Philippe also sees it as a promising movement that will lead the way in the next generation.
summary
What did you think?
The new collection "Cubitus", which has been released for the first time in about 25 years, is attracting attention as to whether it will become a new pillar of Patek Philippe, but it is true that there are mixed opinions on the street. However, it is the high-class brand [Patek Philippe], and I think that the dignity when worn on the wrist is something that surpasses others.
"Seeing is believing," so we'd love to see this new model in person! Although it's only been announced a short time ago, we've heard that some have already been delivered, so if you have one, please come and show it off to our store!
Once again, I hope that by reading this column, even one more person will become interested in luxury watches!
See you later!
