There are two models available: SS (stainless steel) and 18KYG ( yellow gold), so we will explain the features and specifications of each. Please read to the end.
overview
Features
①New 10-beat hand-wound mechanical movement
The most distinctive feature of this watch is the 10 -beat hand-wound mechanical movement " Cal. 9SA4" , which has been developed for the first time in 50 years. This latest hand-wound movement was announced at "Watches and Wonders Geneva" in 2024 and received high praise. It has the same 10- beat as the "Cal. 4520" installed in the original model.
The twin barrels with two mainsprings and the unique dual impulse escapement that efficiently transmits power provide a long power reserve of approximately 80 hours.
Also, don't miss the attention to detail that went into the feel and sound of the winding. The "kohaze" part, which prevents the ratchet wheel from rotating in the opposite direction, was inspired by the wagtail, a bird native to Morioka City, where Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi is located, and was created with great attention to detail in the finish and shape of the parts.
②Design faithful to the original model
The case and dial are faithful reproductions of the original model. The 45GS is designed based on the Grand Seiko Style, Grand Seiko's design code, and features a sharp, flat case and multi-faceted indexes.
The striking case and dial designs based on the unique Japanese theme of "light and shadow" are unique to Grand Seiko. They have a beauty that is unique to domestic brands and not found in overseas brands.
The " SEIKO " mark at the 12 o'clock position on the dial, the " GS " logo and the lettering " HI-BEAT " at the 6 o'clock position, the number " 36000 " which indicates the movement's vibrations per hour, and the logo of "Dai-ni Seikosha", the birthplace of the original model, are all reproductions of the original model.
Since becoming an independent brand in 2017 , " Grand Seiko " has been printed at the 12 o'clock position, but the reissue model has retained the previous " SEIKO " logo. Although the details, such as the functions and design, have been updated, the brand's passion can be felt in the fact that the logo has been faithfully reproduced.
3. See-through case back not found in the original model
The biggest difference between this reissue model and the original is the case back. The original model had a closed back, but the reissue model has a see-through back, allowing you to see the latest movement in action.
The power reserve of the movement is placed on the back because Grand Seiko wants the wearer to watch the movement while winding the mainspring. The bridge is finished with Shizukuishigawa finish, and the chamfering of the hole that holds the ruby stone is designed to make the slope shallower and the polished surface wider to enhance the brilliance.
A big attraction is that you can see the movement, which has been created with a focus on both functionality and aesthetics, through the back cover.
