It is said that about 6,050 pieces were produced, including different materials. The A1 piece is said to have been sold to the royal family, but its whereabouts are currently unknown. This A2 serial number is the earliest piece whose existence is confirmed. It attracted attention as a unique piece, and was the most expensive of all the pieces offered at "The Royal Oak 50th".

"Royal Oak perpetual calendar" "Ref.25820PT"

Point

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar was produced from 1996 to around 2013. Of the 1,235 pieces produced, only 74 were made of platinum, and the fact that it also has a popular salmon dial led to a high bid.

[Breakdown of 1,235 bottles]
Stainless steel (628 pieces), yellow gold (107 pieces), pink gold (11 pieces), stainless steel/platinum (378 pieces), tantalum/yellow gold (15 pieces), tantalum/platinum (9 pieces), tantalum/pink gold (13 pieces), platinum (74 pieces)

"Royal Oak perpetual calendar" "Ref.25654ST"

Point

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar was produced from 1987 to 1998. It is said that only 851 pieces were produced. In order to improve water resistance, the case diameter is 0.75mm thicker than the previous model, Ref. 25554. The popular MK1 Salmon Dial may have led to the high price.

[Breakdown of 851 bottles]
Stainless steel (315 pieces), yellow gold (430 pieces), stainless steel/yellow gold (68 pieces), platinum (38 pieces)

Estimate: CHF 100,000 – 200,000

5th Place ■LOT.33

『Royal Oak perpetual calendar “tantalum”』「Ref.25829TP」

Point

The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Skeleton was produced from 1996 to around 2013. It is said that only 875 pieces were produced. Of these, this "tantalum" and "platinum" combination model was produced in only 16 pieces, but the serial number of this particular model is "No. 25", which is higher than "16". It is said that the reason for this is that the serial number allocation was mixed with the solid dial model.

[Breakdown of 875 bottles]
Stainless steel (371 pieces), yellow gold (102 pieces), pink gold (174 pieces), stainless steel/platinum (25 pieces), tantalum/yellow gold (15 pieces), tantalum/platinum (16 pieces), tantalum/pink gold (16 pieces), platinum (156 pieces)

Estimate: CHF 120,000 – 240,000
SOLD : CHF 768,100(JPY 102,387,730)
Increase rate: 320%

4th Place ■LOT.54

"Royal Oak perpetual calendar" "Ref.5554ST"

Point
The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar has been on sale since 1984. Of the 49 pieces produced, this particular piece is a rare piece with three serial numbers [D1495, No. 46, B29282 (inside the case back)], produced during the transition period between the "Ref. 5554" and "Ref. 25554". Furthermore, I think that the fact that it has an "MK1" dial was also one of the factors that led to the high price.

Estimate: CHF 80,000 – 160,000
SOLD : CHF 680,400(JPY 90,697,320)
Increase rate: 425%

summary

What did you think.

Recently, the Royal Oak has been showing gradual movements due to the influence of the high market price. However, judging from the results of the recent "The Royal Oak 50th" , most of the watches sold at prices above the estimate. Looking back at the results, I felt that the popularity of the Royal Oak is solid.

We will continue to report on the auction results from PHILLIPS, CHRISTIE'S, and Sotheby's, so please stay tuned!

see you!
