RED

RED (2010)

Frank ( Bruce Willis ), a retired ex-CIA agent, enjoys a leisurely life in the countryside. One night, his house is attacked by an armed group. Frank fights them off, but is unable to identify the identity of the attackers. Deciding that the woman he loves may also be in danger, he teams up with a former colleague to begin an investigation. Finding out that a major conspiracy is swirling behind the incident, Frank forms a team with retired old agents and launches a full-scale battle against a powerful enemy.

The title "RED" stands for " RETIRED , EXTREMELY , DANGEROUS ". The story is about a group of aging, "former" top agents whose lives are threatened even after their retirement because of dangerous information they learned while they were still active. The contrast between their mature, aged appearances and the flashy team action scenes makes this a film that movie fans who love older men will love. In particular, it is worth noting that both John Malkovich , who continues to be obsessed with conspiracy theories and behave in an insane manner, and Helen Mirren , a beautiful sniper in her 60s, seem to enjoy performing action scenes.

In this movie, Bruce Willis, who plays the role of retired and skilled agent Frank, wears a watch that appears to be an IWC Pilot MARK XVI (Ref. IW325501) . Although it has a simple three-hand appearance, the hands are designed with an emphasis on visibility, and the triangle index at 12 o'clock gives it a "professional" feel, highlighting Frank's character, who "at first glance appears to be just an old man, but in fact is not just an old man ."

The Bourne Legacy

The Bourne Legacy (2012)

Project Outcome is a top-secret CIA project that aims to create assassins with incredible physical abilities by modifying the personality and body through drug administration and other methods. However, fearing that the CIA's position would be jeopardized if the plan were leaked, the higher-ups decide to cancel the plan. In order to destroy the evidence, the participants of Project Outcome are eliminated one by one. Meanwhile, pursuers are closing in on Aaron Cross ( Jeremy Renner ), the hitman known as "Project Outcome's masterpiece," who is trying to kill him.

This is the fourth film in the " Jason Bourne " series, which began with " The Bourne Identity " (2002). It is not a reboot starring Jason Bourne, but a spinoff action blockbuster that depicts the deadly battle between the organization and Aaron Cross, an assassin who was involved in a similar plan at the same time as Jason Bourne.

The watch worn by Jeremy Renner, who plays the main character Aaron Cross in this film, is the IWC Pilot's Watch Double Chronograph Top Gun (Ref. IW379901) . This special model is named after the US Air Force Combat Training School " Top Gun ." The lightweight titanium material allows the wearer to move freely and increases the success rate of the mission and the wearer's own survivability, making this the perfect watch for a " physical assassin ."

The Last Ship (2016)

A new virus with a nearly 100% mortality rate suddenly descends upon humanity. The only ship that escapes the disaster is the US Navy destroyer " Nathan James ," which is in the Arctic Ocean on a top-secret mission, and becomes humanity's last hope. A brutal battle begins between the captain of the "Nathan James," Lieutenant Commander Tom Chandler ( Eric Dane ), who is trying to deliver a vaccine developed by virologists to survivors around the world, and those who are trying to obstruct his efforts and seize dominance in the devastated world...

This popular American TV drama series first aired in June 2014 and continued for four years until 2018. The executive producer is Michael Bay , who is well known for directing " Armageddon " (1998) and " Transformers " (2007). It is still available to watch in Japan through streaming services, so some people may have watched the story during the stay-at-home period, comparing it to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eric Dane, who plays the captain of a destroyer in this film, wears the IWC Big Pilot's Watch Top Gun Miramar (Ref. IW389002) . This model is named after Miramar, California, the place where the U.S. Air Force Combat Training School "Top Gun" was founded. The color scheme of the orange minute scale on the outside and the red hour circle on the inside is reminiscent of deck clocks (clocks installed on the deck of a ship) during World War II. Of the many IWC pilot's watches, this model is particularly suitable for the captain of a destroyer.

summary

"It looks like an ordinary three-hand watch, but it's actually a professional watch" worn by a retired, highly skilled agent who now lives as a normal person. "A sturdy yet lightweight chronograph" chosen by a skilled assassin. "A military watch derived from the deck clocks installed on battleships during the war" worn by the captain of a destroyer. When you line them up like this, it's clear that the watches chosen are " professional watches that suit the personalities of each professional character."

IWC is well versed in the development of durable, easy- to-maintain , yet highly accurate watches, which is why they are able to create "real professional watches" that soldiers can choose, with a wide variety of materials and functions to suit a wide variety of battlefields. Furthermore, they also have excellent design , which has earned them the popularity and trust of a luxury brand.

This is probably why IWC watches are so popular in Hollywood. There is no other brand that can create a watch that is both professional and elegant , and that also looks great, while still being convincing in the background and personality of the character.

We will likely see more and more IWC watch-wearing professionals on screen in the future. Be sure to keep an eye out for their wrists in Hollywood movies featuring soldiers and agents.

see you!
