Justin Timberlake was active as a child actor on the Disney Channel from an early age. At the age of 14, he was selected as the lead singer of the pop group 'N Sync, and during their six-year run, they sold over 80 million records and became a global idol star.
After 'N Sync went on hiatus, he began his solo career. While continuing to work as a top singer, winning 10 Grammy Awards and 4 Emmy Awards, he also entered the film industry. In the true story film "The Social Network" (2010) about the founding of Facebook, he played one of the main characters, the role of Sean Parker, the first CEO of Facebook. His performance was highly praised, and since then, he has consistently appeared in popular works.
"Actor's Watch" focuses on the watches worn by actors active in movies, television, etc.
In this 180th installment, we will introduce the watches worn by Justin Timberlake.
Hublot
Big Bang All Green [Ref.301.GI.5290.RG]

The world's largest social networking site, Facebook. The Social Network (2010), a blockbuster film directed by David Fincher, depicts the founding of the site and the feud between its founders. Let's start with a scene from the Berlin premiere.
In the film, Justin Timberlake (pictured left) plays Sean Parker, a real-life IT entrepreneur who was the co-founder of the music file sharing service "Napster" and the first CEO of "Facebook." The watch he wore at the time was the Hublot Big Bang All Green (Ref. 301.GI.5290.RG). Although it is all green, it is a watch with a smoky and calm color scheme. Even in this photo, it doesn't look out of place at all and fits well with the casual styling that is typical of today's IT tycoons.
Around 2004, when Facebook was incorporated, Hublot was a modest, long-established watch brand that was revived by watch industry innovator Jean-Claude Biver as a new-generation luxury watch brand that combined gold and rubber, and gained tremendous support from creators, athletes, and the new rich in the IT industry who were not satisfied with Patek Philippe and Rolex.
The combination of the film "The Social Network" and Hublot seems to represent the moment when the history of the IT industry and the history of the luxury watch industry intersected.
Rolex
Day-Date II [Ref. 218238 ]

Justin Timberlake's 2016 hit " Can't Stop the Feeling " was his first to debut at number one on the US singles chart. The luxurious solid gold watch he wears in the promotional video is believed to be a Rolex Day-Date II (Ref. 218238).
This song is the theme song for the musical animated film "Trolls" (2016), in which he participated as a voice actor, and is also popular among children as background music for hip-hop dance. In the music video, he wears a Day-Date watch, which is probably a sign of respect for Tupac, a big star in the hip-hop world and an artist who popularized "Rolex as fashion" among rappers.
Breitling
Chronomat 44 [Ref. AB0110 ]

A couple who are satisfied with a physical relationship without any feelings, but meet different potential partners, and realize their feelings for each other... is the romantic comedy "Friends Who Stay Together" (2011). The watch worn by Justin Timberlake in the film, who played the lead role of Dylan, a man who "can't get into a serious relationship with a woman," was a Breitling Chronomat (Ref. AB0110).
Dylan, the character he plays, is a handsome art director. As part of their efforts to present themselves as creative, creative people often choose unique brands that exude expertise and history, such as Breitling, rather than well-known luxury watches such as Rolex or Omega. The choice of this watch can be said to be a reproduction of that method in the film.
Audemars Piguet
Royal Oak Offshore [ Ref. 26401RO.OO.A002CA.02.A ]

Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer Men's Collection presentation was held at the Louvre in June 2023. The event was also a tribute to Virgil Abloh, the Men's Artistic Director, who passed away suddenly in 2021, and many famous people and celebrities who were close friends of Virgil Abloh attended the event, adding to its glamour.
One of them was Justin Timberlake, who attended the event with his wife, actress Jessica Biel. He was dressed in clothes by Virgil Abloh, and the watch he chose for his styling was the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore (Ref. 26401RO.OO.A002CA.02.A).
The Royal Oak Offshore, released in 1993, was a watch designed by Emmanuel Guillet, an in-house designer at Audemars Piguet who was just 22 years old at the time. This huge 42mm luxury watch, which was unprecedented at the time, caused a great deal of controversy within the industry and became a watch that changed the history of luxury watches.
The playful fashion of Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton's first black creative director, combined with the Royal Oak Offshore, the world's first "oversized luxury watch," makes it impossible not to read the creator's message of "changing the world."

What did you think?
I started researching this without giving it much thought, thinking "I wonder if I'll go with Justin Timberlake this time," but as I looked into it, I found that his creativity as an artist and creator and the history of luxury watches were in perfect sync, which is more surprising to me as I write this than to all of you who are reading it.

Justin Timberlake released his latest album "Everything I Thought It Was" in March 2024, his first in six years. He is currently on a world tour with his new songs. It looks like he will be taking a break from acting for a while, but the puppet animation film "Piece by Piece", in which he participated as a voice actor, is scheduled to be released in October 2024.
This is a biographical film depicting the life of musician and Louis Vuitton creative director Pharrell Williams through Lego block puppet animation. Williams himself, as well as other legendary rappers such as Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg, appear as Lego figures. Justin Timberlake also appears as a Lego figure in this ambitious film.
Stay tuned to see what kind of work it will turn out to be.
See you later!
