hello everyone.
The hot days have continued recently, so I hope you are staying healthy. Wearing a mask in the heat can be hard and suffocating, so please be sure to take care of your health so that you don't get summer fatigue.
Well, speaking of Patek Philippe , we have another very rare double-name model in stock. It's my favorite double-name model , the Ref. 5065/1A-001 Aquanaut Large Size Tiffany & Co.
I remember seeing a few of these when I was still a newbie in the watch industry, but recently, it's become much less common to see them. I'm excited about this model for the first time in a while, and I want to introduce it properly so that everyone can understand just how good it is. Please enjoy until the end.
"Ref.5065/1A-001" Aquanaut Large Size TIFFANY&CO.
History of the Aquanaut
First, I would like to briefly touch on the history of Aquanaut.
*Ref. 5060A Reference: PHILLIPS
The first model of the Aquanaut was the "Ref. 5060A" released in 1997. It had a 35mm medium case that felt smaller than the current model. The dial was deeply embossed and had a solid (closed) back, so the movement was not visible. This model was discontinued less than a year after its release, and since it was positioned as the first Aquanaut, it is now difficult to find.
The "Ref. 5060A" was short-lived after only one year, and was succeeded by the "Ref. 5065A(/1A)" and "Ref. 5066A(/1A)" that we will introduce this time, which were released the following year in 1998. The difference between the two models is the case diameter and the movement installed.
"Ref.5065A(/1A)" Case diameter 38mm Movement "Cal.315 SC" "Ref.5066A(/1A)" Case diameter 35mm Movement "Cal.330 SC"
When I first saw this model, I was impressed by its masculine, rugged design, which was somehow different from the Patek Philippe models I had seen up until then. I still remember feeling that it was "unusual" in a good way.
"Ref.5065/1A-001"
Now, let's move on to the product introduction. Currently, Commit Ginza has the current extra large size "Ref. 5167/1A-001" in stock, so we will explain it while comparing it with that.
First, the dial.
"Ref.5065/1A-001" has a clear design with concaves and convexes reminiscent of a grenade, giving it a masculine and powerful feel, whether or not that description is appropriate. The watch we are introducing this time has tritium indexes and luminous hands, and has a nice tanned look.
On the other hand, the current model "Ref.5167/1A-001" has a shorter minute scale, no longer has a rough feel in the center of the dial, and is flatter. Preferences may vary when it comes to dial design, but the "Ref.5167/1A-001" has a cleaner, simpler impression.
Next is the bracelet design.
The "Ref. 5065/1A-001" has sharp edges overall, and has a rugged feel just like the dial. The finish is also polished (mirror-like), giving it a rugged, masculine look.
On the other hand, the "Ref. 5167/1A-001" has a rounded, soft impression overall. The center part of the three-row bracelet is satin-finished, giving it a classy feel.
Next is the case
As mentioned at the beginning, the "Ref. 5065/1A-001" is a medium size of 38mm. This is an ideal size for Japanese people, many of whom tend to have a slender build.
The "Ref. 5167/1A-001" is 2mm larger at 40mm. However, due to its clean design and overall roundness, it doesn't feel too bulky.
Summary
"Ref.5065/1A-001": A rugged design with a masculine feel "Ref.5167/1A-001": A clean, rounded and feminine design
What a place, such as.
Well, we've made a lot of comparisons up to this point, but from here on we'll be focusing on the W-name models that have just arrived.
As mentioned in a recent article about Patek Philippe , there are some models that simply cannot have the double name printed on the dial, probably due to the dial design.
Yes, that is the Aquanaut Ref. 5065/1A-001.
However, even though it is not on the dial, this particular watch does have the Tiffany markings. Where on earth is it?
There you go!!!
Here it is!!
It is engraved on the side of the case at 9 o'clock. We have seen similar double name models in the past, such as the Aquanaut Medium Size "5066A(/1A)", World Time "Ref.5110J" and "Ref.5110P" in the same series.
Looking at the purchase receipt and shipping slip from that time, we can see that it was sold in July 1999 and shipped from TIFFANY in San Francisco in August 1999. The fact that such a history remains tickles the hearts of watch enthusiasts. *A statement of the maintenance that was done by Isshin Watch Co., Ltd., the Patek Philippe distributor at the time, is also available.
The reference on the warranty is "Ref. 5065/1A-001" and the watch is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, but this model comes with a tropical band and folding buckle that is in mint condition, making it a bargain. The case and bracelet are in such good condition that it's hard to believe they are over 20 years old.
There is some damage to the inner box, which is inevitable for a box of this age. However, the fact that it comes with an Aquanaut box of the same age is a big plus. It also comes with all the booklets, making it a great collection piece. Personally, I think this watch will be very interesting in the future.
The selling price at Commit is 9,999,000 yen (tax included).
I don't think there are any currently available for sale, either domestically or internationally.

What did you think.
While everyone has their own preferences when it comes to dial and bracelet designs, I think the "Ref. 5065/1A-001" that I introduced this time really exudes masculinity and ruggedness.
The Aquanaut is one of the most popular Patek Philippe models, and I think it's one that everyone wants to own someday. And this time it's a double name. It's really hard to control my desire. (laughs) It's one of my favorite models, so I really want to wear it someday.
Commit Ginza carries a wide range of models, from standard models to models with complex mechanisms and rare models.
We would like to continue to introduce as many wonderful Patek Philippe watches as possible, so please feel free to contact us with any inquiries about purchasing, selling, or entrusting your watch to us. We will do our best to support you.
We will continue to work hard to make this Patek Philippe discussion as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
