hello everyone.

It's still cold out, how are you all doing? The coronavirus is scary, but it's easy to get sick during this time of year, so please be careful.

Well, this time I would like to write about the points you should be aware of and things you should know when considering selling your Patek Philippe, in an easy-to-understand manner. These are very important points to keep in mind in order to get the highest possible price when selling, so please read to the end.

accessories

First of all, this applies to any brand of watch, but you should prepare everything that came with the watch when you purchased it.

Owners of Patek Philippe watches are particular about not only the original warranty and box, but also the accompanying booklets, including the instruction manual.

If you have a leather pass case to put all of these items in, or a paper envelope with the model reference (model number) and the watch's serial number written on it, please keep these as well. Also, the original warranty card will have your name and address written on it. If it has already been blacked out, there is nothing you can do, but if it has your name or address written on it, try to leave it as is as much as possible.

* Patek Philippe watches come with a two-year manufacturer's warranty from the date of purchase.
It is said that if the name area is cut or otherwise altered, the manufacturer will not provide a warranty.

However, for many watches, the manufacturer's warranty period has already expired, and the warranty does not reduce the value or appraisal of the watch itself, so if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

About watches up to 2000

If the watch was manufactured in the early 2000s or earlier, the box it came in will likely have some damage, especially on the inside, but please do not throw away the box, but keep it.

Occasionally, there are people who bring or send their watches in the box, but we would ask that you refrain from doing this as much as possible. This is because it will cause further damage to the box, and the watch itself, especially the leather strap, may become unusable even if the leather strap itself is in good condition, as this will result in a deduction in the appraisal.

If you don't have a warranty

If the Patek Philippe watch you are thinking of selling does not originally come with a warranty, there is something we would like you to obtain.

This is called " Extract from the Archives" and can be applied for and obtained through the official Patek Philippe website.

For more information, please visit Patek.com

 About "Extract from the Archives"
The watch you own has been recorded in the Patek Philippe history since its founding in 1839.
A service that provides the latest information updated with the utmost care.
You can apply for Impeace, which costs the equivalent of 150 Swiss francs.

The method of obtaining a certificate is simple. First, enter your name, address, and phone number in the form, then enter details of the watch you own (movement, case, and model number are required), the case material, and attach several images of the watch and submit it. Images showing the movement and serial number are required, so if you need to open the back cover to check, please ask a Patek Philippe authorized service center.

It will take about 12 weeks for the Extract from the Archives to be published, but the document is said to accurately reflect the information recorded in Patek Philippe's historical documents, including the type of watch, movement number, caliber, case number, style, dial type, date of manufacture, date of sale, bracelet type, and additional information if any.

Although the manufacturer's website states that "Extract from the Archives" is not proof of authenticity and is not a guarantee, when selling antique or vintage models, "Extract from the Archives" is so important that it is almost essential if you do not have the original warranty.

If you are considering selling a Patek Philippe watch in the near future that does not come with an original warranty, it would be a good idea to obtain one.

Regarding scratches, dents, etc.

Finally, there are the recently popular "Nautilus" and "Aquanaut", but scratches and dents that cannot be removed even on the finish of the bezel or case edge will be a minus point, so if you are thinking of selling it but still want to own it, please take great care to avoid scratches as much as possible (lol).

Also, if the watch has a leather strap, it will make a better impression during the appraisal if you wipe off any dirt on the strap that can be wiped off.

summary

I have written some basic things that don't need to be explained, but if you are considering selling your Patek Philippe watch, please use this as a reference.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us by phone.

see you!
