Good evening everyone.

The weather was bad last weekend, and there were periods when it snowed lightly, but I hope you are staying healthy. Influenza is also going around, so please be sure to take care of your health.

Well, today we have a new model with a popular and rare movement that we haven't seen in a long time, so we'd like to introduce it to you. Please read to the end.

"Ref.5970R-001"
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" 18KRG

The "Ref. 5970R-001" was announced at Baselworld in 2004 as the successor to the third-generation "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph," "Ref. 3970."

The gorgeous 18KRG (rose gold) case and the silver dial with three perfectly balanced subdials make this a beautiful piece that is truly a work of art. The "Ref. 5970" is also available in four other materials: 18KWG (white gold), 18KYG (yellow gold), and PT (platinum), but all of the materials are extremely popular, and we receive multiple inquiries every time we receive a new shipment, which leads to immediate sales.

The color of the dial varies depending on the case material, with the 18KYG (yellow gold) case having a classic silver dial with a white tint, the 18KWG (white gold) case having a silver dial with a strong gray tint, the PT (platinum) case having a black dial that differentiates it from the other materials, and the 18KRG (rose gold) case having a silver dial with a slight gray tint. When you look at them side by side like this, you can see that each has its own charm and it is difficult to choose a favorite.

The "Ref.5970R-001" uses 18KRG (rose gold) throughout the case, hands, and indexes, giving it a soft and warm design. This model incorporates all the best features of the previous "Perpetual Calendar Chronographs" that have been released so far, and follows the designs seen in the first and second models of the "Ref.1518" and "Ref.2499" for the tachymeter scale on the outer edge of the dial and the chronograph start/stop and reset push buttons.

To put it simply, it's like a ramen with all the toppings. (laughs)

The case diameter of the "Ref. 3970" was 36mm, while the "Ref. 5970" has been increased to 40mm, but this gives it a much stronger presence without compromising the wearing comfort. It is a watch that gives off an outstanding aura, but is not gaudy, which is impressive! That is all I can say.

The Lemania-based movement "Cal. 27-70 Q", which can be seen through the skeleton back, is not only beautiful to look at, but also boasts stable accuracy with a vibration frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of about 60 hours. I have seen this movement many times before, and my impression is that it is simply "highly accurate!" Incidentally, models equipped with Lemania-based movements, such as the "Ref. 3970" and its higher-end models "Ref. 5004" and "Ref. 5970", have been attracting more attention in recent years and are becoming scarce on the market.

The watch was overhauled and the case was finished by the manufacturer in 2022, and has hardly been used since then, so it is a solid and impressive piece with no noticeable scratches or scuffs on the case or buckle.

Unfortunately, the warranty card is not included, but the paper envelope that holds the leather-like pass case that holds the warranty documents also has the reference and movement/case number printed on it. The inner box shows signs of wear consistent with age, and the pillow in the center for setting the watch is missing, but the box for the "Ref. 5970" in which the case back and adjustment pins can be set is firmly attached, and the case back, adjustment pins, and tag with the serial number are all in unopened plastic, making it a well-packaged set of accessories. The fact that it also comes with a booklet with a picture of the "Ref. 5970" is also an important point when it comes to watches of this class.

The selling price is 25,850,000 yen (tax included)

When the 18KWG (white gold) case "Ref. 3970EG-016" arrived at the end of 2023, the customer reaction made us realize once again the demand for "perpetual calendar chronographs" equipped with Lemania movements. Although it depends on the model, it seems that the selling price has been rising slightly, so it's a watch that we're looking forward to in the future and we recommend it with confidence!
