Good evening everyone.

Over the past few days, the number of days with temperatures around 20°C has increased, and cherry blossom viewing season has finally arrived. Since there seems to be a lot of pollen flying around this year, it might be a good idea to enjoy cherry blossom viewing from indoors.

Well, this time I would like to introduce a particularly rare model of the popular Nautilus. It is a wonderful example with excellent condition and warranty date, so please read to the end.

"Ref.5980/1R-001"
"Nautilus Chronograph" 18KRG

The Nautilus Chronograph "Ref. 5980/1R-001" was released in 2013 with an 18KRG (rose gold) case and bracelet.

Unlike the "Ref. 5980R-001" with an alligator strap, the sub-dials are the same color, giving it a calm impression. The beautiful color, which can look gray or brown depending on how the light hits it, gives it an elegant and luxurious finish. The 40.5mm case diameter is easy to use, and the weight of over 250g is eliminated by the bracelet, which fits the wrist perfectly.

So let me tell you a little bit about the history of the Nautilus Chronograph.

The first Nautilus model to feature a chronograph was the Ref. 5980/1A-001 with a stainless steel case, which was released in 2006 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the watch. I still remember how the design of the subdial at 6 o'clock was novel and attracted a lot of attention.

The current model, Ref. 5980R-001, was released in 2010 with an 18KR (rose gold) case and alligator strap. The black-brown dial and silver-toned subdial at 6 o'clock are distinctive features, making this a beautiful model that is both elegant and sporty.

In 2013, the "Ref. 5980/1AR-001" was released at the same time as the "Ref. 5980/1R-001". This is a combination model of SS (stainless steel) and 18KRG (rose gold) with a beautiful design featuring a colorful blue sunburst dial.

Getting back to the topic at hand, let me first give a brief explanation of the chronograph counter.

This watch has a "30-minute counter" and a "12-hour counter" arranged on the same axis at the 6 o'clock position. ❶ The white long hand measures the first 30 minutes (0-30 minutes) on the first revolution (outside), ❷ measures the next 30 minutes (31-60 minutes) written on the inside on the second revolution. ❸ The other short hand is designed to measure the inner 12 hours, and by looking at both hands, you can see the total measured time, which is an innovative system.

Although it is not in focus, the watch is equipped with a chronograph mechanism with flyback function, "Cal. CH 28-520 C," and its beautiful movement can be appreciated through the skeleton back.

Another recommended feature is the new buckle. What's more, it's surprising that the bracelet on this watch has never been adjusted.

The warranty date is January 2023. The bracelet has not been adjusted, and all accessories are included, making this an unused item that has never been handled. With a very recent warranty date, it is unlikely that you will find one in this condition even if you look for it.

The selling price you are interested in is, 30,800,000 yen (tax included)

That's what I wanted to say, but an order came in while I was writing this article... We don't expect to get such a wonderful example any time soon, but the next time we get one, we'll quickly make it available here on Patek Theory and let you know about it.
