Good evening everyone.
This time, we have three generations of the "World Time" in stock, which was also featured in the first Patek Philippe article, so we would like to take this opportunity to feature them. Please enjoy until the end.
"Ref.5110R-001"
"World Time" 18KRG
When talking about Patek Philippe, the "World Time" model is an essential part of the brand. In 1937, Louis Cottier invented the world time mechanism, and the "Ref. 515 HU" was the first wristwatch to feature a hand-wound movement in a square case. This was followed by the "Ref. 1415 HU" in 1939 and the "Ref. 2523 HU" in 1953, all of which can only be seen at overseas auctions, with some models fetching hundreds of millions of yen.
More than 40 years later, in 2000, the "Ref. 5110" series was released as a modern version of the "World Time." * Case materials are available in YG (yellow gold), RG (rose gold), WG (white gold), and PT (platinum). Only the PT has a blue sub-dial.
The model we will introduce this time is the "Ref. 5110R-001" made of 18KRG (rose gold). The case diameter is 37mm, which may seem a little small to some people, but considering the overall balance, I personally like it.
Starting with this model, you can change the hour hand, 24-hour rotating disk, and city name disk all at once by simply pressing the push button at the 10 o'clock position on the case. Push the button until the city name you want to set is at the 12 o'clock position, and then adjust the current time. From the explanation alone, it seems like a simple function, but you can experience the complex mechanism by actually operating the watch.
The movement "Cal.240 HU" equipped with the revolutionary world time mechanism can be seen through the sapphire crystal skeleton case back. The proportions of the movement and the case make it look mesmerizing. Also, although it is a small detail, the careful finish of each of the four engravings on the lugs is impressive.
This watch was overhauled and its case finished by the manufacturer in July 2022. The fact that there are nearly two years left of the manufacturer's repair warranty period is a big plus for a model with a complex mechanism. There are some small scratches that have not been completely removed, but I think the manufacturer's finishing was intentionally light so as not to damage the shape, so on the contrary, it can be said that this is reassuring.
The inner box shows signs of aging, but the warranty, booklets, pass case, outer box, repair details and other accessories are all included.
The selling price is 4,268,000 yen (tax included)
It is popular not only in Japan but also overseas, and as this is the first series, I think it is a model that will be exciting to watch in the future. Compared to before, there are fewer stocks, so if you are interested, please consider purchasing it as soon as possible.
"Ref.5130P-001"
"World Time" Platinum
The Ref. 5130 was released in 2006 as the successor to the Ref. 5110. The case diameter has increased from 37mm to 39.5mm, the design of the center of the dial has changed from guilloche to sunbeam, and the design of the hands (hour hands) has been changed to apple hands. The change in the design of the center has made it easier to set the current time (especially in minutes), and the city name ring has become slightly larger, making it easier to read.
As mentioned above, this is the "Ref. 5130P-001" made of platinum (PT), so the color of the sub-dial is blue. It has a glossy and beautiful color, which makes it stand out from the crowd.
The diamond at the 6 o'clock position on the case is also a differentiating feature that is only available in PT (platinum).
The movement equipped with the revolutionary world time mechanism, which can be seen through the skeleton back, is the "Cal. 240 HU" that has been carried over from the previous model, just like the one mentioned above.
This watch was also overhauled by the manufacturer in March 2022. There is still about a year and a half left of the repair warranty period, which is another plus point. There are some scratches and small marks on the case, but it is a solid, well-made watch that looks almost unpolished.
No warranty card is included, but booklets, a pass case, a box, and repair details are included.
The committed sales price is 5,676,000 yen (tax included)
The price is attractive because it does not come with a warranty. And above all, the platinum model of Patek Philippe has a special feeling to it, and I think it is a watch that everyone would like to have at least once.
"Ref.5230G-001"
『World Time』18KWG
The "Ref. 5230" was announced in 2016 as the successor to the "Ref. 5130." The case diameter has been slightly reduced from 39.5mm to 38.5mm, the center of the dial has an elaborate guilloche finish, and the hands have been changed to a design that combines the first and second generations.
The case design also has a cleaner look with the elimination of the crown guard, and it has a flatter, sharper appearance compared to previous models.
This particular model is the Ref. 5230G-001, made of 18KWG (white gold). The lug design has also changed significantly, reminiscent of the World Time masterpiece Ref. 2523/1.
The movement with the world time mechanism that can be seen through the skeleton back is also the same as the first generation, "Cal.240 HU". The base movement is the ultra-thin automatic "Cal.240", so the case thickness is kept to 10.23mm. The Calatrava cross engraved on the 22K micro rotor is also beautiful, and it looks like a work of art.
The condition is good, with some scratches and scuffs from use, but it is unpolished and has a good solid impression. There is no warranty, but it is a one-owner item, so you can rest assured.
The selling price is 4,686,000 yen (tax included)
The Ref. 5230 is an attractively priced watch that was discontinued this year. Now is the time to buy one that is no longer available.

This time, we have the first to third generation of the World Time, and since it is rare to have the opportunity to see them all at once, we have introduced them here. If you have time, please come to our store and compare them in person to experience the merits of each model.
Although it has been difficult to travel abroad freely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we look forward to the time in the near future when we can travel abroad freely again, and we hope that at that time, more people will wear the World Time watch when traveling abroad.
