The third generation hand-wound Daytona "Ref. 6263" manufactured from around 1969 to around 1988
This product is serial number 34 and was manufactured around 1973.
The third generation hand-wound Daytona had a long production period and comes in a wide variety of dials.
The particular watch we are introducing this time has a blank dial with no Daytona notation above the 12-hour counter.
The Big Red is cool, but the unmarked dial is also a very popular early dial .
Another distinctive feature of the early dials is the "σ" sigma notation at the 6 o'clock position.
*The σ mark indicates that gold or other precious metals are used on the dial.
The dial has some luminous loss at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, and some corrosion at the 3 o'clock position, but is otherwise in good condition.
*The hour, minute, chronograph hands, and sub-dial hands show some corrosion due to aging.
*The second hand specifications are different from those of the 6263.
Digging deeper, we find that this particular example has an early dial known as a low letter dial, with the words "ROLEX OYSTER COSMOGRAPH" written in three lines slightly toward the center.
Compared to Big Red on the right of the photo, the position of the three lines is clearly different.
This is the next dial after the narrow Sigma dial, which has the Sigma T notation located at the 28th to 32nd minute positions.
The low-letter σ dial of the 1973 model is perfectly aligned.
The bezel is an inverted Z “MK3” bezel.
The pusher is a replacement pusher "MK3" with a grooved cylinder.
The condition is good, there are scratches from use overall, but no major scratches.
*Please feel free to contact us for details.
The accessories included are a later box.
Wrist shot!!
The plastic bezel and silver panda dial go perfectly together! It's so cool!
Popular Ref.6263/Silver dial, low letter σ dial!!
This is an early model with a great atmosphere!
Although the consistency is a little off, this is a recommended hand-wound Daytona with an attractive price tag.
If you are looking for a hand-wound Daytona with a dial without the original markings, please consider this one.
