The first Submariner with a date, Ref. 1680.
This is an early model manufactured from around 1969 to 1975,
where the SUBMARINER logo is red, commonly known as the "Red Sub."
The individual piece we have in stock this time is a highly sought-after model among Red Submariners,
a Meter First dial.
The "Meter First" dial, where "200m" appears first,
is characteristic of early matte dials.
The Meter First dial was produced from around 1969 to 1970,
and Red Submariners are further classified into MK1 to MK3 within the Meter First category.
Today, we are introducing the "MK2" dial, which is the second type.
The characteristics of the MK2 dial are the "open 6" in "660ft" and a "long f" in which the upper part of the "f" is longer, though not as long as in the MK1.
This dial is particularly rare among Red Subs, and we don't often have opportunities to stock it.
The “Panty-red” font, where red text is painted over white text, is also wonderful as it evokes a sense of vintage character.
Furthermore, this particular piece features a rare brown dial that has undergone strong tropical aging, a phenomenon seen in only a very few MK2/MK3 dials!
This dial has a truly beautiful color, doesn't it?
Honestly, it's rare to come across a piece that has aged so beautifully and intensely brown.
Its unique aging makes it truly stand out from the rest!!
The dial condition is excellent, with a superb surface.
Although the luminous material on the index at the 8 o'clock position has a slight chip upon closer inspection,
with a dial of this caliber,
it exudes such an overwhelming presence that even that flaw becomes negligible.
The aging of the hands is also a nice touch.

and is well-balanced with the index luminous material.
The bezel is equipped with an MK2/Long 5 insert that has faded to a gray color!
The gradient-faded insert and the brown dial are exquisitely matched and look fantastic!!
Despite some signs of use, the case and bracelet are in good condition!
As you can see, the mid-case is solid.
The lugs are sturdy and robust, giving it an impressive presence!!
The clasp is stamped 70.3.
The 9315/folded bracelet (FF280) is in good condition with almost no stretch!
It has a great look, doesn't it?
I highly recommend holding it in your hands and experiencing its overwhelming presence.
You'll probably find yourself exclaiming, "Wow, this is amazing!" (laughs)
