The Day-Date is Rolex's flagship model, produced exclusively in gold or platinum.
Compared to the previous Ref. 1803 model, this "Ref. 18039" features a sapphire crystal instead of an acrylic one and is equipped with a date quick-set function.
Compared to its successor, the Ref. 18239, this model is also characterized by its thick, "kamaboko" (semi-circular) case!!
The dial is the classic silver color, set with vintage-style older diamond indices.
While there is a slight, natural discoloration typical of silver dials, as this piece was manufactured around 1983, it only adds a tasteful, pleasant atmosphere to the watch.
It looks even better in person than in the photos, so I highly recommend you come take a look for yourself!
There are no visible scratches on the dial, and the luminous material on the indices is fully intact, making this a perfect-condition piece!

The luminous material is all-tritium, and it comes perfectly equipped with its original tritium hands.
The luminous material on both the hands and indices has aged to a lovely cream color, which looks fantastic!
The dial condition is great, but this is also an excellent piece that has maintained superb case condition as well!!
Check out the condition of the mid-case! It is likely an unpolished, high-quality specimen!!
Those thick, impactful lugs really stand out!!
While there are some light scratches from use on the bezel and mid-case, the hairline finish remains beautiful and the edges of the lugs are still sharp!!
The definition between the lugs and the end links is very clear, too! You can enjoy the rare condition that truly defines its original form.
The bezel is also remarkably crisp!!
This rugged, thick case unique to early models is irresistible!! It looks so cool!!
The buckle clasp code is "G," and of course, the bracelet is period-correct as well!!
The bracelet is also in good condition with only minimal slack!
