The Day-Date is Rolex's highest-end model, available only in gold or platinum.
This is the "Ref.18238" model, which was the first to allow for changing the day of the week in addition to the date display.

Compared to the previous "Ref.18038" model with its thick kamaboko-shaped case,
this model features a more stylish case.

The piece we're introducing today is a rare Day-Date with a wood dial!

While wood dials come in a wide variety of designs,
this model uses "walnut," one of the world's three most famous woods,
known for its unique texture and beautiful, deep brown grain.

No two natural wood dials are alike, as each piece has a unique pattern and expression.

The piece that just arrived is particularly appealing for the elegant, subdued color characteristic of walnut,
and it is a truly beautiful dial with a well-balanced grain. 

When viewed up close, you can truly appreciate the vibrant patterns unique to natural materials.

This dial is just stunning, with its perfectly coated, glossy wood dial and
gold lettering – simply irresistible.

Personally, my favorite features of wood dials are the longer minute track and
the characterful applied indexes!

Here's a two-shot with birch wood, which is characterized by its brighter color and beautiful, lustrous grain.

It's fascinating how the brightness and expression can vary so much even within the same wood dial category!

This birch belongs to Murayama, Commit's public relations staff member.

The birch has such a great look that you really should see it in person!

An important point!

The dial condition is wonderfully clean and well-preserved!

The luminous material on the hands is tritium.

The luminous condition is also good!

While there are minor scratches from use, this particular piece is in excellent condition overall, remarkably well-preserved! 

As you can see, the mid-case is thick and sharply defined, 
with no noticeable thinning.  

The bezel peaks are also solid and look good!

The buckle clasp code is "R3." 

The matching bracelet (full links) is also in top condition with no noticeable stretch!

Many wood dial watches tend to have stretched bracelets, so this condition is rare.

Accessories include box, warranty card, international service warranty (May 2023), repair statement,
Day-Date booklet (94), and Oyster booklet (92).

The guarantee is from the US and states that the original dial was champagne tapestry.

While this means the walnut dial was replaced at some point,
since wood dials cannot currently be replaced by the manufacturer,
this does not affect our valuation.
