Hello!

Kaneko from Commit Ginza will be introducing a recommended watch!

Today, we have a Day-Date with a wood dial.

ROLEX Day-Date Walnut Tritium
Ref.18238 Serial.S3 (manufactured around 1993)
Cal.3155 8385/FF55B Clasp Code R12
Accessories: Box, warranty card (USA)
In-store price: 7,458,000 JPY (incl. tax)

The Day-Date is Rolex's pinnacle model, available only in gold or platinum.

This is the "Ref.18238" model, which was the first to allow not only the date but also the day to be changed.

Compared to the previous model "Ref.18038" with its thick, "kamaboko" (fish cake-shaped) case, the case was changed to a more stylish design.

The individual piece we are introducing today is a rare Day-Date with a wood dial!

While wood dials come in many variations, this model features "walnut," one of the world's three most famous woods, known for its unique texture and beautiful deep brown grain.

Being made of natural wood, no two wood dials have the exact same pattern, and each individual piece has a different character.

The piece that arrived this time features the attractive sophisticated color unique to walnut, and it is a very beautiful dial with a well-balanced wood grain.

Looking up close, you can enjoy the vibrant patterns unique to natural materials even more.

By the way, this dial is incredibly cool, with its glossy, beautifully coated wood and gold lettering.

Personally, I love the long minute markers and the tasteful applied indexes on wood dials!

This is a two-shot with birch wood, which is characterized by its bright color and beautiful glossy wood grain.

It's fascinating how the brightness and appearance of wood dials can completely change even when they are made of the same material!

This birch belongs to Murayama, Commit's public relations representative.

It's a birch with a really nice expression, so you definitely want to see it in person!

If you ask at the store, he'll be happy to show it to you.

Important point!
The dial condition is excellent and has been maintained in a beautifully clean state!

The luminous material on the hands is tritium.

The luminous condition is also good!

While there are minor scratches from use, this is an excellent individual piece that has maintained its wonderful condition!

As you can see, the mid-case is thick and well-defined, and there is no excessive case thinning.

The bezel's fluting is also solid and in good condition!

Clasp code "R3"

The integrated bracelet (full links) is also in top condition with no noticeable stretch!

It seems that many wood dial watches have stretched bracelets, but this condition is rare.

Accessories include the box, warranty card, international service warranty card (May 2023), repair statement, Day-Date booklet (94), and Oyster booklet (92).

The guarantee is for the US, and the original dial is listed as Champagne Tapestry.

This means the walnut dial was replaced at some point, but since Rolex no longer offers wood dial replacements, this does not affect our valuation.

Wrist shot!!
It's a masterpiece that tickles a man's heart, with each one being unique!!

Commit staff were all admiring it, saying how cool it was!!

Rolex Day-Date Walnut "Ref.18238/S3"
This is a rare Day-Date with a walnut dial that is difficult to come across!
Wood dials with excellent overall condition are becoming increasingly rare, with fewer in circulation compared to before. Therefore, when such a well-preserved individual piece appears, it's an opportunity not to be missed!
Day-Date collectors, please consider this piece.
