No. 1790 ~ Highly Consistent & Recommended! Red Submariner MK5 Dial! Introducing the 1680 from '72!

Hello! This is Kaneko from Commit Ginza, and I’d like to introduce a recommended timepiece! Today, we have an excellent example of a "Red Submariner" with consistent parts!!

The first Submariner Date, Ref. 1680. This is the early model manufactured from around 1969 to 1975 with the "SUBMARINER" logo in red, commonly known as the "Red Sub".

While it is a classic model that boasts immense popularity even among vintage pieces, the one introduced here is a highly recommended example with consistent parts! If you are looking for one, please be sure to check it out!

The dial is a MARK 5. It features an open 6, and the horizontal bars of the "f" and "t" in the 660ft depth rating are aligned on the same level.

The Red Sub has a wide variety of dials, but broadly speaking, MK1 through MK3 are "Meter First" (200m=660ft), while MK4 through MK6 are "Feet First" (660ft=200m).

The dial condition is outstanding, maintaining a beautiful state even under a loupe.

Honestly, it is rare to come across a Red Sub with a dial in such pristine condition.

The tritium lume on the indices is also in beautiful condition. There is slight discoloration at the 8 o'clock position, but it doesn't detract from the atmosphere at all, and the piece is in wonderful overall condition.

The condition of the lume on the hands is also great!! There is some very natural aging, but it is in good condition with no visible cracks.

Another attractive feature of this piece is that it comes with a fat-font MK3 bezel. This insert is a high-value point!

It's a cool insert with a slightly faded atmosphere.

※The luminous pearl shows signs of repair but does not glow.

The watch is perfectly equipped with a "top hat" style acrylic crystal!

The case and bracelet show minor scratches consistent with the age, but they are in good condition.

The middle case, in particular, is in wonderful condition with crisp, sharp edges!!

The bracelet is equipped with the folded-link style essential for a Red Sub of this era.

The buckle clasp is stamped for the 72.3 period.

The period-correct folded-link bracelet has some slight slack, but it is also in solid, good condition!

Wrist shot! It has such a great look!! The evenly aged, beautiful cream-toned tritium lume is a real charm!
