Hello everyone!!
Today we will be talking about a model with a changing dial color that will tickle a man's fancy.
"One and only"
There are many Rolexes that have undergone exquisite changes over time that are worthy of this description, and they continue to fascinate men around the world. Recently, they have been categorized as "vintage Rolexes" and their recognition has been increasing.
This time, I would like to introduce you to some fascinating Rolexes with changed dial colors. Please stay with me until the end.
The dial color changes!
The dial color of luxury watches changes.
Basically, you don't want this to happen, and if your watch does change in this way, it's not surprising that you might file a complaint, wondering if it's a defective product.
However, when it comes to Rolex , this phenomenon is becoming more and more appreciated . The changed watch has an even more vintage feel, and its popularity and demand in the market is increasing, with its value increasing year by year. Furthermore, how did it change in the first place? It is not clear, and it is truly a one-of-a-kind item.
Let's start by looking at a prime example: the change dial.
"Tropical Dial"
The first one we would like to introduce is the tropical dial , which is particularly popular among variable dials.
Generally, this refers to the discoloration of black or blue dials to " brown." Typical models that suffer from this condition include the Submariner , Sea-Dweller , Daytona , Explorer I , and GMT Master .
*Some stock is held at Commit Ginza.

Submariner
This is a "Tropical Dial" of the solid gold "Submariner" Ref. 1680/8, which has beautifully changed color. Originally it had a beautiful blue dial, but over the years it has changed color to this color. The beautiful and even brown color is sure to tickle a man's fancy. Also, when you remove the dial from the case, the outer circumference still has the blue color. (*Confirmed) This is an extremely rare and excellent example of a " Tropical Dial" .
Sea-Dweller
Next is the "Ref. 1665" "Red Sea-Dweller". This is a watch whose black dial has beautifully changed to "brown". In fact, it is said that the "Tropical Dial" of the "Red Sea-Dweller" only exists in the dial called MK2. Its market value is increasing year by year, and the one we sold this year was valued at about 8 million yen.
We are also introducing it on COMMIT TV, so please check it out ↓↓
Daytona
The last one we'll introduce is the "Ref. 6263" "Daytona." This is a "Tropical Dial" watch, where the original black sub-dials have turned a beautiful brown. We've sold this watch a few times at Commit, but it's rare to see such a deep brown color. The "Tropical Dial" Daytona is already very popular, and beautifully discolored pieces are traded at surprising prices. This is the true joy of a "vintage Rolex" - a "one-of-a-kind piece."
Cream and ivory dial
Next up is the Cream Ivory Dial, which often appears at Commit Ginza.
As the name suggests, this is a unique watch with a white dial that has turned cream or ivory . This type of discoloration is seen on semi-vintage Daytonas and Explorer IIs .
*Some stock is held at Commit Ginza.

Daytona
The "Cream-Ivory Dial" of the "Ref. 116520" that exists on the white dial of the P, K, Y, and F series. It's no longer cream-ivory, but more like lemon yellow (lol). I remember being blown away when I first saw this one. There are very few watches in the world that have discolored so dramatically.
By the way, our store appraiser, Tsuyoshi Kaneko's favorite machine, the "Cream Daytona," is also in a very good state of discoloration. If you are interested, please come and see it! Kaneko will be very happy if you say so at the store (laughs).
If you come across a Daytona with a cream-ivory dial , compare it with the two watches featured in this column.
We are also introducing it on COMMIT TV, so please check it out ↓↓
Explorer II
Next up is the "Cream Ivory Dial" Explorer II, which has been gaining popularity lately. This is the second generation Explorer II "Ref. 16550" that was manufactured from around 1984 to around 1988. The photo shows a watch that was recently delivered, and I was astonished at how deep the color was. It was more like cod roe cream than ivory (lol).
The impact when lined up is intense! (lol) This is an exceptional specimen that was sold immediately before it was even listed on the website.

Violet Dial
This refers to a blue dial that has turned purple, commonly known as a " violet dial ."
It is said to be one of the early models of the " Blue Submariner " "Ref. 16803", "Ref. 16613", "Ref. 16808" and "Ref. 16618". Depending on the angle of the light, some of these models can appear blue or purple, making this a model that continues to fascinate us.
* "Ref.16613"
This one has a very strong violet color. We previously sold this watch in our store, and it was a fast-moving piece that shows just how popular the violet dial is.
The difference in color is obvious when you compare them in person. The Violet Dial model seems to be in less stock these days than it used to be, so now is the time to buy one when you come across a good one.
"Patrizzi Dial"
Lastly, we have the Patrizzi Dial , which we often introduce on COMMIT TV and in our columns.
As we have explained many times, the rare model of the Daytona "Ref. 16520" in which the white sub-dial has turned brown is called the "Patrizzi Dial."
The name comes from Antiquorum founder Oswald Patrizi, who pointed out that this type of discoloration was seen in watches manufactured between 1994 and 1995. Now, it has become a common nickname for vintage Rolex fans.
Commit Ginza has sold many Patrizio dials , but they are so popular that the demand is endless. The value varies depending on the color depth and beauty, and some are priced at over 10 million yen.
summary
What did you think.
It is not clear what caused each discoloration, and each one is different, so I think this is a lineup that will truly appeal to men.
These models are perfect for those who are looking for something unique and original, so we hope you will find them useful.
In addition, Commit Ginza is strengthening the purchase of the models featured in this article. If you are considering selling, please contact us.
