Many watches are brought to Commit Ginza every day.
From brand new watches without a single scratch to vintage pieces that have stood the test of time and have acquired a certain elegance, each and every watch seems to reflect the life of its owner.
On the other hand, there are many people who are thinking about parting with their beloved watch and getting the next one. For ordinary consumer goods, the main reasons for replacing a watch are that it is broken or old. However, this logic does not apply in the secondary market for luxury watches. In fact, many people decide to part with their watch when it is at the "highest point of value."
"I want to go to a higher stage"
"I feel like a different partner is more appropriate for my current wrist."
"Now that the market has moved, isn't it time to move funds to the next asset class?"
These feelings felt by watch enthusiasts are not simply a case of "boredom." They may also reflect a change in one's life stage, the maturation of one's aesthetic sense, or a keener sense of one's assets. The buying and selling of luxury watches is not simply the consumption of material goods, but may be considered a "circulatory" process that updates one's own values.
So this time, we will be focusing on the Daytona El Primero "Ref. 16520," which is a key focus of Commit Ginza, and introducing a carefully selected selection of distinctive examples that have already been sold, so please enjoy until the end.
If you are interested in any of the watches, please take this opportunity to register your interest (request for restock).
① "Daytona El Primero" "Ref. 16520" W number

Features : Patrizio, W number, complete accessories
Attractive points : The Patrizi dial has an evenly darkly colored sub-dials, and although there is some aging typical of El Primero watches of this age around the outer edge of the dial, it is not so bad that it detracts from the watch's appearance, and the overall impression is good.
It is the classic W number of the Patrizi dial, and is also the most popular serial number.
We introduced this watch because it comes with a full range of accessories, including a box, warranty card, and Daytona booklet.

② "Daytona El Primero" "Ref. 16520" L serial

Features : 225 Taki, MK3 dial, single tritium, comprehensive accessories
Attractive points : This is an L-number model with the MK2 bezel [225 Taki] seen in early models, and is a rare piece with the MK3 dial (letters with serifs) which is rarely seen.
The MK3 dial often seems to show signs of deterioration that are typical of El Primero, but this particular example was in relatively good condition.
Not only the dial, but also the case, bezel, bracelet, etc. are in very good condition, making this a recommended item.

3. Daytona El Primero "Ref. 16520" E

Features : Shiny MK4 Dial, Single Tritium, Reverse 6
・Full range of accessories
Attractive Points <br>The dial has a glossy finish, commonly known as a "shiny dial," which differs from the usual matte dial. It is mainly found in the E series, but there are not many of them, making them extremely rare.
It has the MK4 reverse 6 dial and single tritium finish, which is unique to early models, and it was in good condition.
It comes with a full range of accessories, including a box, warranty card, and Daytona booklet, making it a watch that we would recommend as a part of your collection.

④ "Daytona El Primero" "Ref. 16520" N number

Features : MK3 Dial, Reverse 6
Single tritium watch, excellent condition with some stickers
Attractive points : The MK3 dial is characterized by letters with serifs and an inverted 6, but this particular model has modest serifs and the Daytona logo is a serif-free dial.
Not only was the dial in excellent condition, but the case, bezel, and bracelet also showed little signs of use, and the buckle even had a red bellows seal, making it a fine example.
What impressed me most was that it maintained top condition among the single tritium El Primeros.

⑤ "Daytona El Primero" "Ref. 16520" P number

Features and final product number (P number)
・Non-polished level・Excellent specimen
Attractive points
Of the El Primero models produced over a period of approximately 10 years, from R to P, this is the final P model, which was only produced for a short period of time.
This particular example was particularly excellent, with sharp edges on the case and bezel, giving it a crisp finish reminiscent of a non-polished watch.
The original production number was small,
Furthermore, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find one in good condition every year, so this is a watch that I would recommend if it is restocked.

summary
This time we focused on stainless steel models and introduced five [SOLD OUT] models.
Even if they are the same "Ref. 16520", there are many variations in their appearance, such as the "Patrizzi" which has been transformed into a brown eye, the "225 Tachi" and "Shiny Dial" that are unique to early models, and the popular "P number" which is the final model number.
As mentioned at the beginning, parting with such a special piece is not just a matter of selling it, but also a major step in passing the baton to the next owner and in allowing you to discover a new piece yourself.
At Commit Ginza, we properly evaluate these subtle differences in specifications and the unique patina that develops over time, helping you maximize their value. Whether you've decided to let go or are passionate about acquiring a watch, we welcome your consultation. There's no greater joy than being able to help you in your watch-related journey.
Furthermore, it is not uncommon for the distinctive models introduced here to be negotiated for immediately after arrival, and there are many people looking for them. If there is a model or condition that interests you, please register for a "restock notification" and wait for the next opportunity to encounter it.
