4th Generation Submariner Date Ref.116610LN & Ref.116610LV
The Rolex Submariner is an iconic diver's watch that has undergone numerous evolutions but has remained essentially unchanged since its birth in 1953. This time, we will be introducing the fourth generation "Ref. 116610LN" and "Ref. 116610LV (commonly known as the "Green Sub" or "Hulk")" in detail.
Model Overview
The "Ref.116610LN" and "Ref.116610LV" are the fourth-generation Submariner Date models that were released in 2010. Compared to the previous generation "Ref.16610, Ref.16610LV (third generation)," these models have been significantly updated in terms of the case, bracelet, bezel, movement, etc., resulting in a more modern design and improved practicality.
Both models feature a Cerachrom (ceramic) bezel, which significantly improves scratch resistance. In particular, the green sub "Ref. 116610LV" has a green Cerachrom bezel instead of the conventional aluminum green bezel, and the dial has also been changed to green. This coloring is reminiscent of the Marvel Comics character "The Incredible Hulk," so it is called "Hulk."
A feature of this generation is the case design with thick lugs, which gives it a more powerful impression. The bracelet also features a glide lock clasp, which allows for fine adjustment and improves convenience.

①Dial
"Ref.116610LN"
The black dial features Chromalight luminous material that glows blue in the dark. The larger luminous area makes for a highly visible design, and follows the classic, simple style of the Submariner.
"Ref.116610LV"
The dial is green, which is the company's color, and features a sunray finish that changes appearance depending on the angle. Compared to a regular black dial, the color changes with the reflection of light, giving it a more luxurious finish. It is the only Submariner with a green dial, and is particularly popular among fans, and is still traded at a premium price.
Common dial features: Chromalight luminous paint: Instead of the conventional Luminova luminous paint, a blue-emitting luminous paint is used.
- "SWISS MADE" inscription: Located at the 6 o'clock position, it symbolizes Rolex quality assurance.
②Bezel
One of the biggest evolutions of the "Ref. 116610" series is the adoption of a Cerachrom bezel.
Features of the Cerachrom bezel : Scratch resistance: It is less prone to scratches than an aluminum bezel and is less likely to fade over time.
- UV resistance: Less deterioration due to UV rays, and maintains its beautiful condition for a long time.
The indexes on the bezel are platinum PVD coated for added durability.
③Bracelet
The bracelet of the "Ref. 116610" series is significantly more robust and convenient than the conventional Oyster bracelet.
Main changes: Glidelock clasp: Fine adjustments can be made in approximately 2mm increments without tools (maximum of approximately 20mm).
- Improved bracelet rigidity: Each part has been made more solid than in previous models, making it less likely to twist.
Also, a minor change was made to the buckle around mid-2015, changing the specifications from a matte finish to a mirror finish.
④ Movement
Both models are equipped with the Cal. 3135, a classic movement that Rolex has used for many years.
Features of "Cal.3135": Improved accuracy: Chronometer certified (COSC acquired), high accuracy within -2 to +2 seconds per day.
-Parachrom hairspring: Excellent magnetic and shock resistance, and less susceptible to environmental changes.
- Power reserve of approximately 48 hours: Provides a highly practical power reserve.
summary
The "Ref.116610LN" and "Ref.116610LV" are fourth-generation Submariner Date models that inherit the traditional design while significantly improving functionality and durability.
