Hello everyone.
This time, I would like to talk about Parmigiani Fleurier, an up-and-coming Swiss luxury watch brand.
Parmigiani Fleurier is an up-and-coming brand that has been attracting attention from watch collectors in recent years. We will introduce the three collection lines and their representative models of the fascinating Parmigiani Fleurier, so please enjoy until the end.
What is Parmigiani Fleurier?
Parmigiani Fleurier is a Swiss luxury watch brand founded in 1996 by Michel Parmigiani, a watch restorer and watchmaker who is said to have the hand of God, and is named after its founder, Michel Parmigiani , and the town of Fleurier in the canton of Neuchâtel. The company controls all processes involved in watchmaking in-house, values its independence from any other group, and believes in creating watches with unique ideas and creativity.
In fact, Parmigiani Fleurier originated as a watchmaking workshop that opened in Couvet, Switzerland in 1976, where they restored old watches and produced complicated watches. In 1978, they restored the collections of the Patek Philippe Museum and the Des Monts Museum, which earned them high praise and led to their current status. In 1980, they were entrusted by the Sandoz Family Foundation with the maintenance of three small automata, the Maurice-Yves Sandoz Collection (the Frog, the Snare, and the White Mouse).
The first model released by Parmigiani Fleurier, the Toric Memory Time, features a bezel decorated with mortage, a design that has been continued in subsequent models. The year after its founding, Parmigiani Fleurier established Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, which produces movements, and in 2000 partnered with Les Artisans Boitiers, which produces watch cases, and in 2001 with Atokalpa, which produces escapements and balance springs. Parmigiani Fleurier now has one of the most integrated production systems in Switzerland. In 2004, Parmigiani Fleurier established the Qualité Fleurier Foundation, which inspects the quality of watches, in collaboration with Chopard and Bovet.
Parmigiani Fleurier has three main collections:
Each collection
①【THE TONDA COLLECTION】
"Tonda" means "circular" in Italian. Michel Parmigiani is said to have said the following about "Tonda."
"The name of this watch collection comes from the Venetian word 'Tondo', which refers to the circular canvases used by Renaissance artists to create their masterpieces. The round shape of the Tonda collection is like an unused canvas on which to depict the Parmigiani Fleurier aesthetic from various angles."
It is said that Michel Parmigiani originally aspired to be an architect, and this comment gives us a glimpse into the depth of his designs and his thinking as an artist.
"Tonda GT"
"GT" refers to a car that uses technology to reduce the burden on the driver and can travel long distances comfortably. The latest work of the "Tonda GT" collection, which bears the name, is the "Tonda" series, which has the largest collection. The case design follows the "Tonda Chronor", which won the "Chronograph" category at the 2017 Geneva Watch Grand Prix, and is made with the "golden ratio". It is a so-called "luxury sports watch" with an integrated bracelet. It is also famous for hiring external designers, and was designed by Dino Modolo, the designer who worked on the first "Overseas" by [Vacheron Constantin] and the "Golden Bridge" by [Corum].
TONDA GT STEEL BLACK
"Ref. PFC910-0000210-B00182"
With a date display at 12 o'clock and a small second at 6 o'clock, this simple yet sophisticated design highlights the beauty of the guilloche engraving on the entire dial, giving it a sophisticated and sporty impression. The automatic movement "Cal. PF044" has a power reserve of approximately 45 hours and is water resistant to 100 meters. It is finely finished with Côtes de Genève stripes, showing the company's high level of technical skill.
