Today, we would like to present to you the latest 2024 edition of mechanical watches, "10 recommended models from Patek Philippe."

The discontinued models were announced along with the price revision in February 2024, but they include popular models such as the Petit Complication, Nautilus Chronograph, and Aquanaut Travel Time, so many people are probably disappointed.

On the other hand, new products will be announced at "Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024", which is scheduled to be held from Tuesday, April 9th to Monday, April 15th, 2024, so many people are probably excited to see what new products will be released.

This time, we would like to introduce some carefully selected recommended models from the currently popular Patek Philippe. Please read to the end.

① "Calatrava" "Ref. 5196G-001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/calatrava/calatrava-368250/

The "Ref. 5196G-001" was born in 2004 as the successor to the "Calatrava" "Ref. 3796".

This popular model, commonly known as "Kunroku," has the reference number "96" at the end, and is available in 18KYG (yellow gold), 18KRG (rose gold), 18KWG (white gold), and PT (platinum). The hand-wound movement "Cal.215" is widely known as a masterpiece that has been in use for over 40 years despite being updated. It will be discontinued in 2022, but if you are interested in the dress model, we would like you to experience the charm of this sophisticated and simple design.

2. Calatrava "Ref. 5226G-001"

The Calatrava Ref. 5226G-001 was announced at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 as a simple three-hand model with a date display.

This watch features a black gradient textured dial with applied Arabic numerals, a nubuck calfskin strap, and syringe-shaped hands that resemble syringes, giving it a vintage feel. The case side also features the Clous de Paris decoration, which was often used as a bezel decoration. The movement, Cal.26-330 SC, is highly convenient, with a hack function (stop second) and no longer a time period during which the date cannot be changed. This is an attractive model with excellent design and functionality, so we recommend that you see it for yourself.

➂ "World Time" "Ref.5110G-001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/patek-philippe-other/worldtime-383386/

The first "World Time" watch, Ref. 5110G-001, had the outstanding functionality of being able to instantly determine the time in major cities around the world.

Equipped with the revolutionary movement "Cal.240 HU," in which the central clock displays the main time and the outer disk displays the world time, this highly practical watch allows you to use its high functionality with simple operations, simply by pressing the push button at 10 o'clock to rotate the city disk. By the way, speaking of "world time," in addition to this "Ref.5110," there are of course other attractive models such as "Ref.5130" and "Ref.5230," but considering the beauty of the leaf hands, the guilloche engraving in the center of the dial, and the case diameter of 37mm, which is comfortable for Japanese wrists, "Ref.5110" is the model we most recommend. Why not try out this complete beauty in store first?

④ "Nautilus Petite Complication" "Ref.5712/1A-001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/nautilus/nautilus-petit-complication-269071/

The Nautilus Petite Complication, Ref. 5712/1A-001, was released in 2006 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus.

Like the previous model "Ref.3712/1A-001" that was discontinued just one year after its release in 2005, the movement is "Cal.240PS IRM C LU", but there have been gradual changes to the specifications, such as adding a dot next to the power reserve 48 notation in 2008, and changing the movement standard from "Geneva Seal" to "Patek Seal" in 2009, and it has evolved. Speaking of "Nautilus", the simple three-hand model "Ref.5711" is also recommended, but this "Nautilus Petite Complication" with its beautiful balance of power reserve display, small second, date and moon phase on the dial is multifunctional and will surely satisfy your desire to own it. Another point not to be overlooked is that it has a less premium feel than the three-hand model.

⑤ "Aquanaut" "Ref. 5168G-001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/aquanaut/aquanaut-387425/

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the birth of the Aquanaut in 2017, the 42.2mm jumbo-sized "Ref. 5168G-001" was released.

The combination of a black gradient blue dial and a tropical band made of the same color, midnight blue, gives this watch a sporty yet elegant impression. The movement is equipped with the Patek Philippe Seal-certified "Cal.324SC", boasting unquestionable functionality. In addition, from around 2022, a "folding clasp" and a "new movement "Cal.26-330 SC"" have been adopted, and not only has it become easier to put on and take off with the push buttons on both sides, but the adoption of the new movement has improved convenience by adding a hack function (stop second) and eliminating the prohibited time period for changing the date. Although it is positioned as a sports model, it also has a dressy impression and boasts outstanding functionality and practicality, making it a recommended watch that allows you to feel the greatness of [Patek Philippe].

⑥ "Perpetual Calendar" "Ref.3940G-001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/patek-philippe-other/perpetual-calendar-299369/

The "Perpetual Calendar" "Ref. 3940G-001" was released in 1985 as a next-generation perpetual calendar model, equipped with the famous "Cal. 240 Q" movement.

Although the case diameter is small at 36mm, the subdials are well-balanced and the presence of this watch is greater than its size. It is also a favorite of Patek Philippe's honorary chairman, Philippe Stern, and is a model that captivates watch lovers. This long-selling model was manufactured for over 20 years from 1985 to 2006, and is available in four materials: PT (platinum), 18KWG (white gold), 18KRG (rose gold), and 18KYG (yellow gold). It is said that about 7,000 to 8,000 pieces were manufactured. There are various variations, such as dials that are broadly classified by the indentations and dividing lines of the subdials, and specifications for closed back or see-through back cover, making it a deep and famous watch.

⑦ "Perpetual Calendar" "Ref.5320G-001"

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/patek-philippe-other/perpetual-calender-263593/

The "Ref. 5320G-001", released in 2017, was inspired by the "Ref. 3448", the world's first model equipped with an automatic winding "perpetual calendar mechanism".

The calm cream dial is lacquered but has a translucent feel like it is made of enamel, and the syringe-shaped hands and Arabic numerals give it a vintage feel. The lug shape is also distinctive, with triple step lugs often seen on classical models. It has a relatively simple design among "perpetual calendars," and is highly recommended for those looking for a model with a vintage feel.

⑧ 『Chronograph』 「Ref.5170P-001」

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/patek-philippe-other/chronograph-348234/

The new 2017 model "Chronograph" "Ref. 5170P-001" features an attractive deep blue dial with a gradient and indexes set with baguette-cut diamonds.

Models with diamonds set in the indexes can look a bit gaudy, but this model not only has a calm color scheme for the case and dial, but also makes it easy to wear and brings out the beauty of the diamonds. The movement visible through the skeleton back has been changed from the Lemania-based Cal.CH 27-70 that was installed in the previous Ref.5070 to the Cal.CH 29-535 PS, which boasts a power reserve of approximately 65 hours. This model was discontinued in 2019 and was produced for only about two years, but it is a recommended model that is highly regarded as the most faithful successor to the tradition of Patek Philippe's hand-wound chronographs.

9. Perpetual Calendar Chronograph: Ref. 5970P-001

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/patek-philippe-other/perpetual-calendar-245674/

The fourth generation "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 5970P-001" was announced at Baselworld in 2004.

While inheriting the square push buttons seen in the first generation "Ref.1518" and the early model of the second generation "Ref.2499", the tachymeter on the outer circumference of the dial, and the classical design of the third generation "Ref.3970", the case size has been increased from the conventional 36mm to 40mm, and it has been reborn. This PT (platinum) version was announced in 2009, but was discontinued after a short production period until 2010, and it is said that only 300 to 500 pieces were produced. Also, unlike the "Ref.5970" made of other materials, the notation at the 6 o'clock position is not "SWISS" but the tachymeter number "120". Why not enjoy this model equipped with the "Cal.CH 27-70 Q", the last ebauche movement made by Lemania?

10. Perpetual Calendar Chronograph: Ref. 5270P-001

*Source: https://www.commit-watch.co.jp/buyer/watches/mens/patek_philippe/patek-philippe-other/perpetual-calendar-chronograph-328099/

The "Ref. 5270P-001" is the first "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" that uses an in-house movement instead of the Lemania movement found in the previous model, the "Ref. 5970."

While the Lemania movement has a vibration rate of 18,000 vibrations per hour, the Cal. CH 29-535 PS Q has a high beat rate of 28,800 vibrations, and a new hack function (stop second) has been added to stop the second hand. In addition, the leap year notation is located at 4-5 o'clock and the day & night notation is located at 7-8 o'clock, improving practicality. The case size has been changed to 41mm, 1mm larger than the Ref. 5970, but the square pushers, leaf hands, and lug shapes have been faithfully inherited. The popular salmon dial is equipped with Arabic numerals indexes that are only used in PT (platinum) models, giving it a special finish, so it is a watch that will not be inferior to any other watch you choose as your graduation watch.
