hello everyone.
It's been 11 months since the last time. Starting today, October 25th, the request to shorten business hours for restaurants in Tokyo and Osaka will be completely lifted. It is good to see that the vaccination rate is increasing and the number of new infections is decreasing day by day, but it will likely be some time before travel abroad will be as free as before. In order for various restrictions to be lifted, it is important to continue to do what we can, such as wearing masks, washing our hands and gargling.
Well, today we would like to introduce the "Ref. 5370P-001" split-second chronograph , which is the first one to be handled by Commit. Please enjoy until the end.
Split-Second Chronograph
First, a brief explanation of split-second chronographs.
What is a split- second chronograph ?
A watch with this function has two chronograph hands, one above the other, which are overlapping. These two hands start moving at the same time, and by pressing a specially installed split button, only one of them stops, while the other continues to move.By stopping only one of the hands, the intermediate measurement value can be read, and by pressing the split button again, the stopped hand instantly catches up with the moving hand and returns to its overlapping state.
Looking at the movement of the hands alone, you might think it might break at any moment, but this function, which brings together the best of technology from various companies, is a complication that any watch lover would love to have at least once.
"Ref.5370P-001" Split-Second Chronograph Platinum
The split-second chronograph "Ref. 5370P-001" was announced at Baselworld in 2015. At the time, I remember being shocked by the fact that it was such an amazing model, with a platinum case, black enamel dial, applied Breguet applied indexes in white gold, and a standalone split chronograph.
I think it is definitely the dial that draws you in when you look at this watch. This black dial with its beautiful luster gives off an aura of something extraordinary, and that is because it is made using a technique called genuine black cloisonné .
Cloisonné is a type of craft that combines metal and glass, and refers to the traditional craft technique and works. It is finished by applying black cloisonné to a WG (white gold) disk, melting it at a high temperature of 850 degrees, cooling it, and polishing the surface by hand.
Even when viewed through a magnifying glass, there are no bumps or unevenness on the surface, and it is a complete dial with the luster that is unique to enamel. If you were to generalize it as an enamel dial, you would assume that all of them have a luster, but I think this dial is unmatched and in a class of its own.
The index is made of white gold and features applied Breguet numerals.
Of course it looks cool.
It is no exaggeration to say that the platinum material is only found in special models of Patek Philippe, and it features the standard diamond embedded at the 6 o'clock position for a differentiated look.
The case diameter is 41mm, but with a split button at the crown and a leather strap, it has the weight that is unique to platinum, and the movement is equipped with a split mechanism, making it an impressive case.
The case is in very good condition as it was hardly worn and was well-cared for by the previous owner. Of course, it is unpolished. The leather strap can also be used as is.
The hand-wound movement "Cal. CHR 29-535 PS" that can be seen through the skeleton back improves the transmission efficiency of the gears and reduces friction. This artistic three-dimensional movement is so fascinating that you will never get bored even if you look at it for a long time. Some people say that they can drink alcohol while looking at the movement, and it is easy to understand why. (laughs)
The warranty is dated 2017. As you move to the higher-end Grand Complication models, the warranty specifications become even more luxurious. The condition of the accessories is also very good, and all the closed case backs and setting pins are included.
The selling price is 25,520,000 yen (tax included)
It is difficult to find one for sale in Japan or abroad, and considering the condition, I think it is no exaggeration to say that this price is the cheapest in the world. Currently, this genuine black enamel dial is out of production, so I think the price will go up in the future. Personally, I am looking forward to this watch.
summary
What did you think.
This time, we were able to get a long-awaited model, so I was very excited. (laughs)
In fact, on the day I was writing this column, a customer came in wearing the blue enamel dial "Ref. 5370P-011"!!
I just couldn't contain my feelings and took a "two-shot" which will be difficult to achieve in the future...
Thank you for your kind response to my sudden and unreasonable proposal.
The weather has been getting cooler recently, making it easier to wear leather strap watches. Why not take this opportunity to add a leather strap model to your collection?
see you!
