hello everyone.
Today, I would like to introduce my favorite and long-awaited model, the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph "Ref. 5970R-001". We have sold two platinum case models in the past, but this is the first time we have handled the 18KRG (rose gold) case.
Please enjoy until the end.
Perpetual Calendar Chronograph 18KRG
"Ref.5970R-001"
The "Ref. 5970" was announced at Baselworld in 2004 as the successor to the "Ref. 3970" which was manufactured from 1986 to 2004.
[ Genealogy ] 2004: 18KWG (white gold) and 18KRG (rose gold) 2008: 18KYG (yellow gold) 2009: Platinum specification *Black dial
Considering the year it was released, one might assume that there would be a lot of 18KWG (white gold) and 18KRG (rose gold) models, but the production period is said to have been from 2004 to 2009, which is only about a quarter of the production period of the "Ref. 3970". There are very few of these in circulation.
What makes this a Patek Philippe is that the dial color changes depending on the case material. 18KWG (white gold) has a silver dial with a strong gray tint, 18KRG (rose gold) has a silver dial with a slight gray tint, 18KYG (yellow gold) has a silver dial with a white tint, and Platinum has a differentiated black dial. Each has its own unique charm, and it is difficult to choose between them.
This "Ref. 5970R-001" has rose gold accents on the case, hands, and indexes, giving it a very soft and warm impression.
The Ref. 5970 also has a design that can be described as "perfect," including its appearance. This is because it is said to incorporate the best parts of previous perpetual calendar chronographs.
First of all, the tachymeter scale on the outer edge of the dial follows the design seen in the first and second models of "Ref. 1518" and "Ref. 2499".
Next, the chronograph start/stop and reset push buttons. These have also been changed to a square shape, which was popular in the first model of the first perpetual calendar "Ref. 1518" and the second model "Ref. 2499".
In addition, while the case diameter of the "Ref. 3970" was 36mm, the "Ref. 5970" has been increased to 40mm. I think that a case size of around 40mm is very easy to use, including balance and wearing comfort. It is a watch that gives off an outstanding aura, but is not unpleasant, which is also what you would expect from Patek Philippe!
The movement "Cal. 27-70 Q" that can be seen through the skeleton back is not only beautiful to look at, but also boasts stable accuracy with a vibration frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of about 60 hours. I have seen quite a few of these movements so far, and my impression is that they are simply very accurate!
Unfortunately, no warranty card is included, but the paper envelope that holds the leather-like pass case that holds the warranty documents also contains the reference and the movement/case number of this watch.
The inner box shows signs of wear and tear depending on age, and there is no pillow in the center to set the watch, but the case back and adjustment pins can be set, and the box is firmly attached to match the watch. The fact that it comes with a booklet with a photo of the "Ref. 5970" is also an important point for watches of this class. In addition, the sleeve case in which the watch was delivered is also included, and there is a sticker with the movement/case number written on it, so it can be said that the accessories are substantial.
Furthermore, it still has the original Patek Philippe price tag attached, as well as the adjustment pins and closed case back, and is still unopened.
As for the condition of the watch itself, there are some small scratches and scuffs from wear, but it is a well-built watch that does not appear to have been polished in the past and has a good impression. Judging from its history, it appears to be a one-owner item, in satisfactory condition, and with a full complement of accessories. It would make a great addition to a collection.
The selling price at Commit is 17,985,000 yen (tax included).
Recently, watches with Lemania-based movements have been gaining popularity, and their prices have been rising accordingly. This is a watch worth looking forward to in the future.
summary
What did you think.
Like the millennium watch "10 Days" "Ref. 5100" that I introduced last time, this is one of the models I would like to wear myself. Price aside, it's getting cooler from now on, and it's the time of year when you want to wear a watch with a leather strap. (laughs)
Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar chronograph model "Ref. 5970R-001" is a favorite among watch lovers.
This is a product that I can confidently recommend.
