hello everyone.

This time, we will introduce the petite complication "Ref. 3712/1A-001" from the popular Nautilus series.

Due to the extremely short production period after its release, there are very few units in circulation, making it one of the rare and popular models. This is the second time that Commit Ginza has received this watch, including one that was sold before it was even listed on the website. This is a rare watch, so please enjoy it until the very end.

"Ref.3712/1A-001" Nautilus Petite Complication SS

The Ref. 3712/1A-001 was released in 2005, the year before the 30th anniversary of the Nautilus, and was the first Nautilus model to feature a long-awaited complicated mechanism.

The following year, in 2006, the successor model, "Ref. 5712/1A-001," was announced, so this model was only produced for a year, with very few units in circulation.

At the time, the crown was not screw-down, so it did not have the waterproof function that was officially announced, which led to various speculations and rumors that it was a prototype .

I entered the watch industry in 2004, so I didn't know much about Patek Philippe at the time, but I still remember thinking that they were simply cool.

The gradient blue dial that is unique to the Nautilus features a small second hand at 4 and 5 o'clock, a moon phase and date hand display at 7 and 8 o'clock, and a power reserve display at 10 and 11 o'clock. With an exquisite design that is leaning towards nothing, you will be captivated no matter how many times you look at it.

The movement seen through the sapphire crystal caseback is the "Cal.240 PS +IRM +C +LU" , which is based on the ultra-thin automatic movement "Cal.240" equipped with a micro-rotor that was released in 1977 and is still in use today. Even with the petite complication mechanism, the thickness of the movement is kept to about 4mm, which is truly Patek Philippe .

Another reason we recommend this watch is that the previous owner has had it regularly overhauled by the manufacturer three times (in 2011, 2015, and 2021). The case and bracelet were also finished during the most recent overhaul, so it looks very beautiful. The manufacturer's finish does not damage the original shape and the edges are firm.

The accessories are a leather pass case, a paper envelope with the reference case and movement number, and a booklet including the instruction manual for the "Ref.3712/1A" . The inside of the inner box is damaged, but it is a consistent box. This is a rare booklet, so I think it can be called a collector's item.

The selling price is 16,445,000 yen (tax included)

There are very few units available for sale in Japan, and even if you look on overseas sales sites, the prices are even more affordable than the reasonable prices.

The successor model, the Ref. 5712/1A-001, has been on the market for nearly 15 years, so you can immediately tell how rare the Ref. 3712/1A-001 is, as production ended after just one year. For that reason, it is a very interesting watch, even in the future.

The difference between "Ref.3712" and "Ref.5712"

Finally, I would like to talk about the differences between the "Ref. 3712" and the "Ref. 5712". Although it is not the same SS (stainless steel) model, I would like to compare it with the "Ref. 5712R" in 18KRG (rose gold) currently in stock at Commit Ginza.

 [Dial]
"Ref.3712": There is a slight index at the 7 o'clock position
 "Ref.5712": No index at 7 o'clock
[Date display around the moon phase]
"Ref.3712": Small numbers. Numbers 9 to 23 all face inward.
"Ref.5712": Large numbers Numbers 9 to 23 are inverted

 [Case diameter]
"Ref.3712": 42mm, 1mm smaller *Measurement position (ear to crown)
"Ref.5712": 43mm, 1mm larger *Measurement position (ear to crown)
 [Crown]
 "Ref.3712": Not a screw-down type, small
 "Ref.5712": Large screw-down

 [Case thickness]
 "Ref.3712": Two-piece structure 8.37mm 0.15mm thin
 "Ref.5712": 3-piece structure 8.52mm 0.15mm thick

There are some points that are easy to see visually, and some points that are hard to tell from a photo, like the case diameter and thickness, but which one do you prefer?

Of course, preferences are divided. And I think both have their merits. Personally, I prefer the "Ref. 3712" which has an overall classical feel.

summary

What did you think? The rare model "Ref.3712" with a short production period...

Men really are weak to the word "scarcity." (laughs)

Of course, the price is not something you can easily afford, but we hope that you will come to know the appeal of luxury watches and think , "I want to own one someday!"

I am very happy that we have recently received a wide range of stock, from classic to rare models. Thank you very much. I am grateful for all the different stories I have received, and I hope to continue introducing many Patek Philippe watches to you.

We've also had more and more customers come to our store and say, "I watch YouTube all the time!" and we're very grateful that they treat us with such a sense of familiarity.

We will take this as encouragement and continue to work hard every day to make everyone happy.

see you!
