hello everyone.
The state of emergency in Tokyo and three prefectures was lifted on March 21, but the request for restaurants to close at 9 p.m. has been extended until April 21. Recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed my perspective and way of thinking about money, and I feel like I'm starting to see watches as financial assets.
Now, this time, we have a rare model in stock that we have featured early on in our Patek Philippe discussion and have talked about several times before, so we would like to introduce it to you.
Please enjoy until the end.
"Ref.5004"
It's been 17 years since I started working in the watch industry, but the aura I felt when I first saw this watch was incredible, and I still have a special feeling for this model, the Ref. 5004.
* "Ref.5004P"
This "Ref. 5004" was released in the mid-1990s and is thought to have been in circulation until its successor, the "Ref. 5204," was announced in 2012, but there are differing opinions as to how long it was actually produced.
I believe I have seen quite a few examples of this model, but I have only seen a handful of watches sold at authorized domestic stores.
* "Ref.5004P"
This is because Patek Philippe watches are rare and have a low stock. The even rarer model, the Ref. 5004, had a waiting period of 3 to 5 years even for those who had heard they could preorder it when it went on sale. I don't know if those people were actually able to buy it, but the fact remains that the stock was extremely low.
In preparation for handling this watch, I did some research on the "Ref. 5004" and found out that the number of units produced per year during its production period was less than 15 (actually 12). This made me realize once again how amazing this watch is.
In addition, there is a model called "Ref. 5004A" that was made of stainless steel and sold for a special customer in only 50 pieces as the final production. I may have a vague memory, but I think I saw it at an overseas auction. There are also some super rare collection pieces that are rarely seen, and there are also some with original bracelets and special order dials.
"Ref.5004R-014" Perpetual Calendar Chrono Split 18KRG
Well, that was a long introduction, but I would like to write about the watches that have arrived this time. Up until now, we have overwhelmingly looked at watches made of platinum, but the model I would like to introduce this time is made of 18KRG (rose gold). The combination of the silver dial gives it a dignified appearance with a sense of warmth, and depending on the material and color of the strap, it can also go well with more casual styles.
There is a popular perpetual calendar chronograph model called the "Ref. 3970" that was produced in the same era, but the dial design is similar but not identical. However, the combination of the applied Arabic numeral indexes, subdial design, and leaf hands is simply cool.
The warranty has a description of the dial written in French and reveals that it has a silver dial, Arabic numerals and a leather strap.
The Nouvelle Lemania-based movement is a complex perpetual calendar chronograph with an added split-seconds mechanism, making it a special experience to look at.
When viewed from the side of the case, due to the difference in the curve of the lugs and the thickness of the back cover, the case diameter is small at just under 37mm, but compared to the "Ref. 3970", the plumpness gives it an even "cute" impression.
Next, one thing that cannot be left out when talking about the "Ref. 5004" is the large crown that also doubles as a split button. This eye-catching crown gives an impact to the watch with a slightly smaller case diameter, making it feel larger than its actual size.
This watch comes with a warranty, case back, box, pass case, booklet, and archives. From the archives, we can see that this watch was manufactured in 1999.

That's all. What do you think?
