hello everyone.

Today, we would like to introduce the first current world time watch, the Ref. 5230G-001, which has arrived since we started Commit, and also talk about the popular two-counter chronograph, the Ref. 5170G-010, which went out of production in 2017.

The World Time was featured in the first article on Patek Philippe , as it is a model that I have a special attachment to, but the current model, which is the third generation since it was revived in 2000, is actually the first time we have handled it since we started our commitment.

Looking at the catalog, I honestly had some doubts about this model, but when I saw the actual watch, I couldn't help but say, "As expected from Patek Philippe!" with its high level of perfection (lol)

Please read it to the end and experience its greatness for yourself.

"Ref.5230G-001" World Time 18KWG

World time "Ref.5230G-001" announced as a new model in 2016

This model was released in 18KRG (rose gold) and 18KWG (white gold) specifications as a successor to the "Ref. 5130," which was discontinued in early 2016 except for the cloisonné (wired enamel) dial.

This model is the third in the history of world time, but it still uses the same movement as the first model, "Cal. 240 HU."

Among the design changes, the lug design in particular has changed significantly, reminiscent of the now very rare "Ref. 2523/1" released in the 1950s. The bezel has also become flat and has sharp edges, and the crown guard has been removed for a cleaner look.

The case diameter has been reduced by 1mm to 38.5mm, but I think the overall balance has improved. The design of the hands has also been changed, so people's tastes may vary, but I personally think it is a good design that combines the first-generation "Ref.5110" and the second-generation "Ref.5130".

The guilloche engraving in the center of the dial is, in my opinion, the most intricate and complex finish of any World Time watch to date.

One of the recommended points of this watch that has just arrived at our store is that the warranty date is August 2019, so it is still within the manufacturer's warranty period. Although there are some scratches and scuffs due to use, it has little signs of wear, and the case is unpolished and very sturdy. The leather strap is also in good condition and can be used as is.

As for the selling price, it is 3,498,000 yen (tax included) !!
The official domestic sales price is 5,984,000 yen (tax included), so I think this is a great deal.
Please enjoy the world time mechanism that is unique to Patek Philippe .

Finally, I would like to add a little tidbit of information that I noticed. The warranty card for this model states that the reference is "Ref. 5230G-001." However, if you look at the Patek Philippe official website now, the reference is listed as "Ref. 5230G-014."

What on earth could this difference be?! Did the specifications of the guilloche engraving in the center of the dial change? Did the color change?... After doing some research, I noticed something.

The answer is that the wording "HONG KONG" to the bottom left of the city name "TOKYO" has been changed to "BEIJING". From the 2019 catalog, the reference branch number has changed and the dial has also changed. It's quite an interesting discovery (lol) *Apologies to those who already knew this.

"Ref.5170G-010" Chronograph 18KWG

The "Ref. 5170G-010" was announced in 2015 and produced for only three years until 2017.

The combination of the black dial, applied Breguet numeral indexes and leaf hands makes this an extremely cool model.

The "Ref. 5170" itself was released in 2010 in 18KYG (yellow gold). Compared to its predecessor, the "Ref. 5070," which was equipped with a movement based on Lemania, the case diameter has been reduced from 42mm to 39mm. The dial has changed from the applied Arabic numerals to a combination of Roman numerals and bar indexes, and the hands have been changed to baton hands, and my initial impression was that it had become much more subdued.

However, this is what you would expect from Patek Philippe . They added new materials and changed the dial specifications, and in 2015 they released the model we are introducing this time, the Ref. 5170G-010.

The movement has been changed from the previous Lemania-based "Cal.CH 27-70" to the "Cal.CH 29-535 PS" which is fully developed and manufactured in-house. (*The first model to feature this movement was the cushion case ladies' model "Ref.7071R" released in the fall of 2009.)

This watch has been overhauled by the manufacturer this year, and there are nearly two years of the repair warranty remaining, so you can use it with peace of mind. Since overhauling a Patek Philippe watch is expensive, I think this is a plus for those who buy it. Of course, all accessories are included.

The selling price is 6,468,000 yen (including tax) !!

Since production of this model has already ended, I cannot tell you the current official domestic retail price, but I recall that the final official retail price was close to 10 million yen.

Design, condition, and price! This Patek Philippe chronograph has it all, making it a highly recommended item.

summary

Recently, there has been more and more activity around Patek Philippe watches than ever before.
