Happy New Year everyone!

Thank you very much for your support last year. I look forward to your continued support this year.

The new year started with the news that the number of coronavirus infections continues to increase unabated, and it looks like we will be dealing with this problem for the time being...

Now, as the first Patek Philippe discussion of the new year, I would like to look at Patek Philippe 's trends and price movements over the last year and talk about its future prospects from my own perspective.

Introduction

The bubble of the Nautilus , Aquanaut and other brands burst in the summer of last year, and then the Hong Kong riots and the COVID-19 crisis happened last year, so I thought it would be difficult for prices to recover or rise, but when I actually looked into the prices, I found that many models were more expensive than before, depending on the year of manufacture and model.

In addition, I think that a trend is also emerging at Patek Philippe that prefers the original case condition, known as "non-polished," which has been highly praised (and in demand) for Rolex sports models, especially vintage and semi-vintage models from the 1980s onwards. This is a state in which no finishing has been added, and is therefore called " non-polished."

In addition, while there is still a trend for older models with remaining manufacturer's warranties to be preferred, models that have been overhauled by the manufacturer and still have repair warranties remaining are also highly recommended.

Nautilus

First of all, when talking about Patek Philippe , I think the Nautilus is a model that cannot be left out.

Among them, the simple yet popular three-hand model with a blue dial and stainless steel bracelet, "Ref. 5711/1A-010," has settled at a certain price. There are few models with the new movement, "Cal. 26-330 SC," so many people are looking for it.

Furthermore, although we don't carry many of these at our store (Commit Ginza), I feel like the market price of the 18KRG (rose gold) model "Ref. 5711/1R" has been rising recently. This model also has a new movement, which I think is the reason for its popularity.

Another must-have three-hand model is the white dial "Ref. 5711/1A-011," a stainless steel model that was discontinued in 2020 and added later. If you can find a later model with a new movement, this would also be an interesting choice.

Although it is not a three-hand model, the popular SS (stainless steel) model "Ref. 5712/1A-001" equipped with a small complication was previously thought to be more expensive than the three-hand model with a blue dial "Ref. 5711/1A," or in the same price range, but I think that it is now priced higher.

Medium Size

Our store (Commit Ginza) also handled three medium-sized "Ref. 3800" watches towards the end of the year. We set the selling price higher than before, based on overseas market prices and the winning bids at watch auctions held overseas from the end of November to December, but we received several purchase applications from customers, and we realized once again that many people are looking for models in good condition with original warranties, including for their asset value.

Aqua Note

Next, we will talk about Aquanaut, which is now equally as popular as Nautilus .

I think the most popular and affordable model, including the price, is the current SS (stainless steel) model "Ref. 5167". The Aquanaut has a strong image of a tropical band, so I think the tropical band version "Ref. 5167A-001" is more popular than the SS (stainless steel) bracelet version "Ref. 5167/1A-001".

One of the reasons for its popularity is that the links of a stainless steel bracelet are large, making it difficult to make fine adjustments, but the tropical band eliminates this concern.

Personally, I recommend purchasing the Ref. 5167/1A-001 with a stainless steel bracelet and purchasing the tropical band and folding buckle from the manufacturer. Am I the only one who thinks it's a bargain? (laughs)

In addition, the "Ref. 5167R-001" with an 18KRG (rose gold) case seems to have a low market price given its domestic retail price, so I personally think it's a good buy.

The model equipped with Travel Time, "Ref. 5164," is also popular, but the price of the "Ref. 5164A-001" with a stainless steel case is likely to have stabilized compared to before, depending on the year of manufacture.

On the other hand, I feel like there are fewer 18KRG (rose gold) case "Ref. 5164R-001"s seeing on the market, and the selling price seems to be higher than before.

The ``jumbo'' sized 42mm 18KWG (white gold) case models with blue dials ``Ref. 5168G-001'', ``Ref. 5168G-010'' with khaki green dial, and ``5968A-001'' SS (stainless steel) case model with chronograph have also become increasingly rare on the market recently, and I think their prices have gone up compared to before.

Second generation model "Ref.5065"

Also the second generation model "Ref.5066"

I feel like the prices of models such as the short-lived third generation "Ref. 5165A" that are in good condition and come with all the accessories are rising, and I'm sure there are people looking for them.

My personal favorite model

Finally, the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time "Ref. 5524" that I personally recommended last year.

SS (stainless steel) model "Ref. 5960/1A" equipped with annual calendar chronograph

Looking at the second-hand market prices for the two models above, the prices have tended to rise, but I highly recommend these watches, including their functions, and they are still relatively affordable. If you are interested, this is a watch you should definitely get your hands on.

Additionally, models with relatively simple designs such as the Calatrava , including the classic "Ref. 5196," are popular if they are relatively large and currently on sale. There are fewer models circulating on the market than before. Due in part to the impact of the revision of domestic sales prices, I think the used market price is gradually rising. However, models that were previously sold as gentlemen's models but are now smaller in size tend to be less popular, including in terms of demand, compared to a certain period in time, so I think they are worth buying if the selling price is kept low.

summary

Patek Philippe has many models equipped with complex mechanisms such as a perpetual calendar or an annual calendar, and many of these watches are relatively affordable on the second-hand market given their domestic retail prices, so I think they are a good buy, especially if you get a good deal on one.

Compared to the popular Rolex, there are far fewer Patek Philippe watches on the market, so it can be difficult for customers to judge the condition of the watch, whether or not it comes with accessories, and of course the selling price, on their own.

My job is not only to buy and sell watches, but also to provide as much customer service as possible, regardless of whether I can give advice or not.

Although the future is still uncertain at the start of the new year, I hope to be able to help people feel happy through watches. I will approach my work in 2021 with the hope that I can do that.

We look forward to your continued support.
