Good evening everyone.

This time, from Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25 PHILLIPS held in Hong Kong I will be sharing the results of the watch auction for "】" ! Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the event, but several of our staff members did. Let's take a look at the results, taking into account what we saw and heard!

*The price includes the commission (27%) paid by the auction company.
*The Japanese yen rate will be based on the most recent exchange rate at the time of the auction.
*HKD (Hong Kong dollar) = 18.2 yen

Lot.856
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph"
"Ref.3971" 18KYG

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/215965

Estimate: HKD 1,500,000 – 3,000,000
(JPY 27,300,000 – 54,600,000)

Sold for HKD 3,048,000 (JPY 55,473,600)

The "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 3971" belongs to the first generation of "Ref. 3970".

This is the first generation of the "Ref. 3970," of which only 100 were produced, and among them is this "Ref. 3971." This watch features a sapphire crystal back, and there are very few of them, so they are almost never circulated on the market. Although it did not come with a warranty, archives confirm that it was manufactured in 1987. The winning bid was relatively reasonable, so whoever won it was probably lucky.

Lot.857
"Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit"
"Ref.5004G-013" 18KWG

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/216424

Estimate: HKD 1,500,000 – 3,000,000
(JPY 27,300,000 – 54,600,000)

Sold for HKD 3,556,000 (JPY 64,719,200)

The Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit "Ref. 5004" was produced from around 1996 until around 2012, when its successor, the "Ref. 5204," was announced.

This watch features a dial with Arabic numerals and a large crown with a split button, making it even rarer than the already rare "Ref.5004" with an 18KWG (white gold) case and silver dial. Moreover, it was in "single-sealed" condition, still in the plastic it was shipped in, and the winning bid exceeded the estimate.

Lot.858
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph"
"Ref.5970R-001" 18KRG

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/216500

Estimate: HKD 700,000 – 1,100,000
(JPY 12,740,000 – 20,020,000)

Sold for HKD 1,397,000 (JPY 25,425,400)

The "Ref. 5970" was announced as the successor model to the "Perpetual Calendar Chronograph" "Ref. 3970".

This is the last "perpetual calendar chronograph" equipped with the Lemania-based movement "Cal.27-70 Q", and the 18KWG (white gold) case was announced at Baselworld in 2004 along with this 18KRG (rose gold) case. Even so, the warmth of the slightly grayish silver dial is truly beautiful. Although it is a rare model, the winning bid was relatively reasonable.

Lot.904
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph"
"Ref.3970E" PT

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/216673

Estimate: HKD 800,000 – 1,600,000
(JPY 14,560,000 – 29,120,000)

Sold for HKD 3,048,000 (JPY 54,864,000)

The "Ref.3970E" is a perpetual calendar chronograph that is the second generation of the "Ref.3970".

The case back is screwed down, and the hour and minute hands are leaf-shaped, which is a feature of the second-generation model, but since this is an early production model, it has a solid case back that hides the movement. Another key feature is the hallmark engraved on the side of the lug. Furthermore, it comes with an original warranty, making it a very good example.

Lot.971
"Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit"
"Ref.5204P-011" PT

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/216499

Estimate: HKD 950,000 – 1,900,000
(JPY 17,290,000 – 34,580,000)

Sold for HKD 1,587,500 (JPY 28,892,500)

The Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit "Ref. 5204P-011" was announced at Baselworld in 2014.

The calendar window at the 12 o'clock position, which displays the day of the week and month, has been enlarged, and the display is now very easy to read, with white characters on a black background. In addition, there is a leap year window at the 4-5 o'clock position, and a window at the 7-8 o'clock position that allows you to distinguish day and night in white and blue. The moon phase at the 6 o'clock position has been redesigned from a cut-out window at the top to the bottom, and the date display around the outside of the moon phase has also been made easier to read with larger numbers. As this is a model that is no longer in production, I thought the bid would go up a little more, but it ended up with a reasonable price.

Lot.987
"Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit"
"Ref.5004P-021" PT

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/216650

Estimate: HKD 1,200,000 – 2,400,000
(JPY 21,840,000 – 43,680,000)

Sold for HKD 2,667,000 (JPY 48,539,400)

The "Perpetual Calendar Chronosplit" "Ref. 5004P-021" is a platinum (PT) case with a silver dial, a different material from the "Ref. 5004G-013" introduced in Lot. 857.

With its Arabic numerals applied indexes, circled sub-dial design, leaf hands, and large crown with split button, everything is perfectly balanced, making this a simply "cool" model. In fact, this is the very first "Ref. 5004" we handled shortly after we established our store, so it's a very nostalgic model. Although the 37mm case diameter feels a little small, it is made of platinum (PT), so it has just the right weight to it. Of the many Patek Philippe models I've seen, this is an exceptional model, so it's no exaggeration to say it's the best, and I think the winning bid could have been higher. (laughs)

Lot.988
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph"
"Ref.5970J-001" 18KYG

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/217481

Estimate: HKD 780,000 – 1,560,000
(JPY 14,196,000 – 28,392,000)

Sold for HKD 1,651,000 (JPY 30,048,200)

The Perpetual Calendar Chronograph "Ref. 5970J-001" was released in 2008, but production was discontinued the following year, making it an extremely short-lived model.

The "Ref. 5970" is available in four materials: 18KYG (yellow gold), 18KWG (white gold), 18KRG (rose gold), and PT (platinum), and this model is said to have been produced in the smallest number of units. It is a model that gives off a glamorous atmosphere, but also a classical and intellectual impression. It is a model that is gradually gaining attention, and the price seems to be rising. Looking at the winning bid this time, due to its rarity, I am looking forward to seeing the price trends in future auctions and the market.

Lot.1046
"Perpetual Calendar Chronograph"
"Ref.3970E" 18KRG

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/217767

Estimate: HKD 640,000 – 1,280,000
(JPY 11,648,000 – 23,296,000)

Sold for HKD 1,079,500 (JPY 19,646,900)

The "Ref. 3970E" is a perpetual calendar chronograph, the second generation of the "Ref. 3970".

Most of them have a screw-down closed back, but it is said that there was a model with a skeleton back made very late in the production period (around 1986-1991), and this particular one is exactly that model. If you decipher the four letters printed at the bottom of the warranty, you will find that it was manufactured in October 1991, and the consistency will tickle the hearts of enthusiasts. The winning bid price for this watch was a great deal.

Lot.1058
"Minute Repeater Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Retrograde"
"Ref.5016P-010" PT

*Source: https://www.phillips.com/detail/patek-philippe/217070

Estimate: HKD 3,000,000 – 6,000,000
(JPY 54,600,000 – 109,200,000 )

Sold for HKD 5,207,000 (JPY 94,767,400)

The Minute Repeater Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar Retrograde "Ref. 5016P-010" was released in 1993.

Equipped with the three major complicated mechanisms of "minute repeater", "tourbillon", and "retrograde perpetual calendar", it reigned as the model with the most complicated mechanisms among Patek Philippe watches until the release of the "Ref. 5002" in 2001. The "Ref. 5016" itself is extremely rare on the market, but the PT (platinum) case and silver dial provide good visibility, and I think many people are searching for it. This is an "ultra-rare model" that we have only handled two of so far, so I wanted to go to the venue and see the watch in person...

summary

What did you think?

There were many other Patek Philippe watches on display, but I picked out and introduced the models that caught my eye, including the results.

Being able to see so many extremely rare pieces all at once like these is one of the best parts of an overseas auction. I'd definitely like to attend the next one and see the real thing!

We will continue to introduce as many attractive and highly recommended models as possible, so please look forward to our next article!

See you next time!
