hello everyone.
This summer, the rainy season ended late, and just when it did, the heat wave continued day after day and my body just couldn't keep up. (lol) It seems like the hotter days will continue than usual, so please take care of your health.
This time, I would like to focus on the "Tropical Band" of the Patek Philippe Aquanaut, which you can wear to lift your spirits and overcome the scorching heat of the height of summer.
A story about a band?!
It seems that way, but I will write about this unexpected "tropical band" . (lol)
However, as I was writing this, I was surprised at how many varieties there were, and to be honest, I started wanting one. I hope you will read this without getting too greedy.
What is a "Tropical Band"?
First of all, what is a "tropical band" ? I think many of you are wondering that.

The "Tropical Band" is a high-tech composite band that is waterproof, towing-resistant, and UV-resistant, and is compatible with Patek Philippe 's Aquanaut watches. It caused quite a stir when it was released in 1997.
Composite materials are very strong materials and are used in the bodies of aircraft and F1 cars. They are also used in artificial heart valves and artificial bones.
The "Tropical Band" is made of composite material and was developed by Patek Philippe over a period of two years. It is anti-metal allergy, resistant to UV rays, and has an excellent fit. Also, unlike regular rubber materials, it is not sticky and feels smooth. And as I have said many times before, it is also very durable.
Now, let's take a closer look at the model and introduce it in detail.

First of all, there is probably no need to introduce the model at this point, but this is the "Ref. 5167A-001" made of SS (stainless steel), the model that made the "Tropical Band" known to the world.
I was surprised when I checked the price again, it was 2,277,000 yen including tax! If you can buy it at a domestic authorized store, that's the best thing (lol)
The color of this band is classic and stable black, so it can be matched with any style.

Next up is the Ref. 5167R-001, which is made from the same material as the previous model but with an 18KRG (rose gold) case.
I don't need to mention the list price here either, but if you can buy it at an authorized store, it's the best one, just like the 4,257,000 yen including tax. The color of the "tropical band" is a stylish chocolate brown that matches the color of the dial. As for the color, I think it will look more beautiful and elegant in the fall and onwards.

Let's continue. This is the "Ref. 5168G-001" released in 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Aquanaut.
It is a 42.2mm jumbo size, slightly larger than the current model's extra large size "Ref. 5167". The midnight blue "tropical band" that matches the black gradient blue dial is very beautiful. It is a recommended color for this time of year when we often wear short sleeves. It is also stylish to match it with a navy jacket or suit in the same tone. It makes you feel like a capable man (lol)

This jumbo-sized "Ref. 5168G-010" was announced last year as a new model.
The dial is a novel khaki green for Patek Philippe, and the tropical band is also the same khaki green. Although the Aquanaut is a casual model among Patek Philippe , I think it has a strong image of being worn with a smart outfit.
I like casual outfits like T-shirts and jeans, but I think a khaki green Aquanote on my wrist would be cool. I personally like military style, so this model is my favorite (lol).

Next up, the one that stands out among the "Tropical Band" color lineup is the chronograph model "Ref. 5968A" released in 2018.
The black gradation dial features a bright orange chronograph hand. The orange in the sub-dials and the orange of the "tropical band" make this a watch that is perfect for the height of summer, and you can wear it "when will you wear it, if not now" (laughs) . *Of course, a black strap is also included.
I've seen it in person many times, and the vivid color of the band is impressive, yet the refined elegance is what you'd expect from Patek Philippe . As I mentioned earlier, this is the perfect pairing for a T-shirt and jeans. The size and thickness of the watch itself means it's sure to grab the attention of anyone passing by.
Aquanaut 〖Luce〗
Finally, I would like to briefly talk about the Aquanaut Luce, which is positioned as a ladies' model.

The Aquanaut Luce, with its stainless steel case and pave diamonds, was launched in 2005 and has been produced in a variety of colors. I'm not sure of the exact number, but I think there are close to 20 color variations. Off the top of my head, there's black and white, of course, but also light blue, blue, khaki green, brown, and burgundy. Unfortunately, the stainless steel model has been discontinued, but it's still popular and I think many people are still looking for it.

The current model is only available with an RG (rose gold) case, giving it a more luxurious feel.
Also, the "Ref. 5167A-012," released in a limited run of 500 pieces for the Singapore Grand Exhibition in 2019, features a stainless steel case with a minute track and second hand, a "tropical band" in the same red as the Singaporean flag, and the sapphire crystal on the case back has the words "SINGAPORE2019" written on it, making it a special model. The band is a vivid red, so it's quite eye-catching, but it's a model that you're unlikely to see anyone else wearing. Or rather, where can you buy it? (laughs)
In addition, the Aquanaut Luce "Ref. 5067A-027" has also been released in a limited edition of 300 pieces.
The red of the dial and strap makes a strong impact. However, when you see the real thing, it still has the Patek Philippe feel and gives a very classy impression. Amazing!!
summary
This time we focused on the summery colors of "tropical bands." What did you think?
I think that rubber band watches are becoming popular among other brands as well. I personally think that the driving force behind this popularity is Patek Philippe and the Aquanaut's "Tropical Band" .
I can't say for sure that it's the perfect first luxury watch, but I think trying a model like this as your second watch is one of the keys to enjoying luxury watches.
I hope you will find this information useful.
