This model was a hot topic as the world's first diver's watch equipped with a rotating bezel to measure diving time. It was developed for true professional divers who work in harsh environments.

The Ref. 1680 was produced from 1969 to around 1980, but the white Sub was a short-lived model with a production period of only a few years.

This is the first time that a Submariner has been fitted with a calendar function, and it features a distinctive design with a date display with a Cyclops lens.
