The Grand Complication model "Ref.5160/500G-001" is equipped with Patek Philippe's perpetual calendar. ,Retrograde is a mechanism in which the hands move in a fan shape, and when they reach the end, they instantly turn back and return to the starting point. ,The basis of a watch is circular motion. The gears rotate inside the movement, and the hands also move in a circular motion in accordance with that movement, but the "retrograde" mechanism, which means "retrograde" in French, deliberately breaks this regular movement.

The automatic caliber "324 S QR" with a thin perpetual calendar is one of Patek Philippe's pinnacle movements.

The movement can be seen through the openable officer's case on the case back, and it is one of the few perpetual calendars with a center second hand. ,The entire case, crown, decorative screws, and buckle are hand-engraved by skilled craftsmen, making this a rare gem.
