Product Background

The DEFY El Primero 21, launched in 2017, is a next-generation chronograph that modernizes the legacy of the legendary El Primero movement, born in 1969. It achieved an innovative 1/100th of a second measurement and is a collection that symbolizes Zenith's technical expertise in high-frequency movements.

Model features

Powered by the El Primero 9004 automatic caliber, this high-performance model features two independent escapements for time display and chronograph functions. The chronograph operates at 360,000 vibrations per hour, with the central hand completing a full dial rotation in one second to display 1/100th of a second. It also boasts an approximately 50-hour power reserve.

Product design

The ceramic case with its sharp edges is paired with a skeleton dial that boldly exposes the movement's structure. The three-dimensionally layered bridges and gears, along with the color-coded subdials, emphasize its mechanical appeal. The design combines futuristic aesthetics with sporty dynamism.
