In 1982, the GMT-Master II, featuring a new movement and improved usability, was introduced as the successor to the original model. Its functionality, robustness, and instantly recognizable design have captivated travelers worldwide.

Equipped with the automatic movement "Cal. 3185," which allows for independent adjustment of the hour hand, it can display up to three time zones when used in conjunction with the bi-directional rotating bezel. This is a long-selling model that was produced for approximately 19 years (from around 1988 to 2007).

It features a highly legible design with a popular red and blue bezel, commonly known as "Pepsi," a black dial, and a striking red 24-hour hand.
