A Note from the Appraiser

Although there are some scuffs and scratches from use, the case is solid. This is a highly recommended and extremely rare Explorer I boy's size with its original mirror dial retaining a beautiful luster. This rare piece doesn't come in very often, so if you're looking for one, please consider it.

Product Background

The Explorer I is a boys' model based on the Ref. 5500, which was already available as the Air King and is said to have been made to order for specific regions and countries, such as the UK market, from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Model features

Since most of these are not sold in Japan, they are rare models that rarely come onto the market and are very popular mirror dial models.

Product design

Because it is equipped with a non-chronograph movement, the word "PRECISION" is written at the 6 o'clock position on the dial, which means accuracy.
