Product Background

The Speedmaster is one of Omega's signature timepieces, having been carried on six moon landing projects. Originally equipped with a hand-wound caliber, it was sold under the name "Seamaster Chronograph", but was renamed "Speedmaster" in 1957.

Model features

The movement is the Cal.3861, an updated version of the Cal.1861. The aluminum bezel ring features a tachymeter scale with a dot over 90 (a dot diagonally above the number 90).

Product design

The CVD-processed gray-blue dial is inspired by and reproduces the "CK2998" released around 1960. The dial and crown are decorated with OMEGA's vintage logo, and the case back is engraved with a seahorse medallion, "THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE", and the words "OCTOBER 3, 1962".
