The moon, rendered in the same pink gold as the case, faithfully reproduces the average cycle from one new moon to the next—29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 3 seconds—so closely that it will not be off by a single day for 122.6 years. The monthly ring surrounding the dial of the new “Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar,” which focuses on the complication that gives the model its name, was ingeniously developed to integrate a perpetual calendar into the distinctive design of the Lange 1.

Through the sapphire crystal caseback, you can view the beautifully finished movement “Cal. L021.3,” one of the Lange hallmarks. The Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar’s centerpiece is its perpetual calendar complication, which also features a day-night indicator and moon phase display. The solid gold celestial disc beneath completes one rotation over 24 hours, and the blue hue of the sky changes to reflect day and night.
