Since its introduction in 1956, the Day-Date has established a reputation as the top line of Rolex watches. It is positioned as the highest-end Rolex model, available only in rare materials such as gold and platinum. The bracelet that comes with it is called the "President Bracelet" after it was sent to the then US President Eisenhower.

The movement has been improved from "Cal.3055" to "Cal.3155", and stability and maintainability have been improved by adopting a twin bridge system that supports the balance on both sides instead of the single bridge system that supports it on one side.

The dial is made of the rare stone onyx, and combined with 18K yellow gold, it is a watch with a luxurious feel.
